Is it supposed to take a long time to submit posts?

I'm newish, and whenever I try and submit, I'm afraid that it might not accept my post and that it will jsut freeze, lock up on me or just not be posted.
If you could reply that would be super helpful.

My posts often vary on length it takes to submit them. Sometimes it is instant, and sometimes it takes up to five minutes.

Yeah, sometimes it'll go right away and sometimes it'll take a couple minutes.

Hate to bump this up, but I've been having a LOT of trouble just staying online on UD. It seems that for 5-10 minutes, it'll be normal with quick loading of pages and postings, then it'll change and suddenly take forever to load a page, forever for a post to show up, and forever to get anything refreshed. Pisses me off because instead of getting the nice orange paper icons for what's new, it refreshes it and everything's white as if every thread were read. I've had to resort to copying an entire post into wordpad and saving it in case it gets lost in a long-ass load that decides to stop right in the middle and go to "Page cannot be displayed".

Anyone else having this problem or is it just my laptop? Any ways I could make it stay fast on my end of the line?

I've been having that same problem the last few days. It's pretty dang frustrating and Notepad has come in handy. It doesn't sound like there's anything specific I can do to improve this (and I even just upgraded the site's hosting plan), so there's definitely not anything you can do to make it stay fast either. Well, small posts seem more likely to go through without a problem, but that's not much help.

But I'm still looking into it. Let me just apologize for the inconveniences the site's server is causing.

Simply not good enough, Luke. I have a good mind to write to the admin and complain.

Actually, I just lied.

I don't have a good mind at all.

Seriously though, half the reason that I've not been posting much here the last few months is the sluggish nature of the thing. (As well as a few other reasons, but meh). I can type up a really long post, then either lose it as a result of a time-out (the non-chocolate kind) or because it has taken so long to get to the dang posting stage.

However, if there is nothing that can be done, I guess we'll just have to be like Winnie and "bear" with it. :D

It seems like it's often worse late at night/early in the morning in the US, which would be middle of the day there and probably prime posting time for you. I can't figure out why that is, since traffic on the whole would seem to go down then.

Maybe just try posting fast and frequent for the time being?

I guess that if it encourages me to post more often, it is a good thing. :)

As you've guessed, it is usually during my "prime time" though. I'll have to start posting during the wee hours of my mornings. :)

Whatever it takes. Just make sure we get our recommended daily dose of Loomis, please.

Any doctor that recommends a minimum daily dosage of Loomis should have their licence taken away.

However, if Luke insists...

I don't know how you managed to get that long thread posted with the problems you've been experiencing. I've had problems in the past with updating the Reviews thread and that's nothing compared to your thread. Perhaps the problem is getting better on its own? Strange how this seemed to start after I upgraded to a more complex service plan.
