Top 10 or 15 Animated Classics voted by Site users?

I kind of had this idea that I wanted to implement earlier, but I'm thinking it could work well now. People on the forum privately send me an ordered list of their Top 10 or Top 20 Animated Classics, and weighing appropriately...so that #1 gets 20 points, #2 gets 19, etc...we come up with a list of the favorite animated classics from the site's forum.

And I'll put together a feature and you can volunteer to do a very short write-up on why the film stands out for you - one or two people per film, and then our list of the Top 10, 15, or 20.

Does it sound interesting to you? I know we've kind of done things similar, but it might be interesting to have a site-wide tally and feature it on the front page. Thoughts?

Sounds like your Top 100 DVD efforts for the past couple years -- and it sounds like a really cool idea. But I can nevver rank them!

If we do this, though, might I make the suggestion that we wait a couple weeks to do it until after the domestic release of Brother Bear so that it may be figured into the lists?

Yep, something like that but much less work! :)

Sure, I think it'd be good to run in November and then we can put together the feature around the beginning of December.

If it goes well, we could do something similar with things like Direct-to-Video and different eras of live action films.

It would just be the 43 'animated classics', otherwise the whole thing would be Disney-slanted anyway.

Sounds good to me, I'd submit a list. Then completely disagree with it as soon as I sent it no doubt :)

Sounds great! I think it should be ten though and not twenty because I think it'd be hard for me to list twenty. :P

Nice,when do we start?

Well, I'm glad you like this idea. I think you can submit anywhere from 10 to 20, and I'll just count them appropriately. Like #1 will always get 20 points, and if you only send 10, then your lowest will get 11 points and that's that. I suppose we could start after Brother Bear opens, so we can say 11/1. The results will be the Top 15 or 20, I think. We'll see how it goes. But I'll start a new thread then and will let you know. This is only going to be open to forum members, but I'll post a notice about it on the front page.

But is it just the animated classics listed on the Animated Classics page? Or do the Pixar films count?

The poll will count the Animated Classics meaning Disney's official list of Animated Classics, or, feature-length animated motion pictures created by the Feature Animation division of The Walt Disney Company. The list will be up to 43 with Brother Bear and does not count films that were not fully animated by WDFA (ie, Pixar movies and DTV fare) or fully animated (a la Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, James and the Giant Peach, and Dinosaur, which had live-action backgrounds.)
