So, I see this post on Animated Movies (one of the last... *sniff*), and I really couldn't bring myself to believe it -

Other previews on the [Finding Nemo] disc include Lion King 1 1/2 (same teaser we've already seen) as well as a single-trailer look at the upcoming Special Editions for Alice In Wonderland, Pocahontas (which announces a "new song from Mel Gibson") and Lilo And Stitch. Nemo hits disc on November 4th, while Range is currently on target for an April 2004 theater release."

Umm... please don't tell me they're re-incorporating "If I Never Knew You" into the film. I'm not saying the song's bad, or anything - it's just the principle of the thing. Is Disney just gonna keep screwing with their films until no movie exists in its original form anymore?

Blargh... well, I hope they offer the original film option as well. I equally hope that the damn thing doesn't pause for five seconds because of bad film branching - like the now-infamous Lion King disc with the "Morning Report" sequence.

i like john smith! not only is he a hottie but he had a nice sexy voice too!

glad to hear they will be hearing "if i never knew you" back in. . . they actually drew the whole thing while they made the film and i saw a rough version of it on abc (wonderful world of disney) with the song and it was pretty good. . . a little long, but very romantic.

In response to some of the posts in the Alice thread -

Well, if we're gonna argue film integrity for the song's case, then I hope they someday release a version of Brother Bear with the central mountain peak changed back to its volcanic form. Read this - a news post from the upcoming Animated Movies sister site - Animated News:

Fairly late in the production of the movie, a major change was made to the placement of the mountain that plays home to all of the animal characters in the film. Originally, the mountain was drawn by the Disney animators as a typical volcanic peak of British Columbia. But, through the sheer executive will of TDA (Team Disney Anaheim), the Disney Studio animators went back and edited all of the scenes in the film where the original mountain appeared. The mountain was completely redrawn and given a new look. And what does the new Brother Bear mountain look like you ask? Why, DCA's own "Grizzly Peak" of course! Believe it or not, TDA was able to get the mountain from DCA's Grizzly River Run cut and pasted into already existing Brother Bear animation frames so that a DCA tie-in to the movie would be much easier to pull off in Anaheim.

Grizzly Peak, my ass. Yeesh... what a shameless attempt to salvage a park that never should've been made in the first place.

i first heard the song on the Micheal Crawford The Disney Album CD. it was an alright song. i dont think the kids are going to find this song interesting.

well Disney really cares for what kids think as well as the adults. they want their movies to be interesting to kids.

It's not shameless at all. Grizzly Peak is beautiful seeing it in person, I am not sure how the artists have depicted it in the film yet but it's such an obvious tie in that I would think it stupid if they didn't do such a thing. The park is having a Brother Bear show anyway, which was planned long before this was.

It's only going to be a few seconds twoard the the end of the movie...in the background.

It'll be just like any other cameo in a Disney film, only less obvious than those in the Pixar films.

I never heard of this before. I watched the "original" version first and there were no pauses. Then a couple days later I watched the version with the "Morning Report" and the only pause was at the very end of the movie when "The Lion King" logo shoots back up on to the screen (which used to be one of my favorite parts, so it bothers me that it pauses because it ruins the drama behind it). Do certain DVD players have additional pauses? Is it only in the Special Edition or does it pause in the "original" version too?

And if anyone cares, the pausing in my "Oliver & Company" DVD appears to just be my DVD player. I played the disc on the cheaper DVD player I have in my bedroom and it didn't pause at all. At the same time, I think Disney may be to blame. I've heard a lot in the past about Disney DVD compatibility issues.

OT: Well, I know several people have been complaining about the film pausing at the end of the "Morning Report" sequence, right before Mufasa says, "That's very good!". I dunno if it's only on certain players, but it happens in both the original and "special" editions.

I'll be okay with the Grizzly Peak thing if it's not too conspicuous, but off the top of my head, this is the first, or one of the few, times that a Disney attraction was forced into an animated film - not the other way around. Oy...

It probably is "If I Never Knew You" All they would have to do is color the whole sequence since it was pretty much finished. I don't really have a problem with this just as long as they do put the original film in.. which I'm sure they will and I don't think we'll have to worry about changed colors and what not since this isn't a touched up IMAX release.

Also I don't think this is as bad as TLK or BATB as this wasn't thought of and done several years after the fact.. this was supposed to be in the movie and got cut out very late. The voices and animation were done at the same time as the film so it will definitley flow far more better. But still some people will be unhappy I guess

what i never understood about "if i never knew you" was how john smith and pocahontas got so attached after like a few day together. i shudder with disbelief when john smith tells poca-hoochie that he'd rather have known her for a short moment than lived a thousand years.
