MGM finally being dropped?
Screamscape reported today that Disney MGM Studios will be dropping the MGM very soon, and to expect an announcment October 1st. Now this rumor has been hot/cold/hot/cold. Has anyone else heard any info on this??
What do you think the new name would be?
Disney Studios
Disney - Pixar Studios
Disney - ABC Studios

well it wont be Disney-ABC Studios, Disney owns ABC.
& that rumor has been going around since i worked there.
Some of the trip planning vids say Disney Studios instead of Disney-MGM Studios.
Just dont call it MGM Studios, it's a DISNEY park, not an MGM park.

I've heard that it would be changed to Disney Studios. I could get used to calling it that; but I've always referred to it as MGM.

Screamscape is about as reliable as a Day 1 newbie castmember when it comes to stuff like this. Like I've said the last 200 times this has been "announced," I'll believe it when I see it.

Disney-Miramax Studios
Disney-Touchstone Studios (if they do this, I wonder how many ppl they'll fool)
I hope they don't make it Disney-Pixar studios b/c then Pixar will be EVERYWHERE and you can't escape it. I hope this long time rumor is still just a rumor. If they drop the MGM would they have to change the Great Movie Ride to only Disney movies? That'd be an awesome ride, but there are a lot of classic movie moments in that ride that shouldn't go. Hmmm I just had an idea for a thread...brb

If they do drop the MGM brand, I hope the new name will be the Walt Disney Studios.

That makes the MOST sense since after all, Disney does have its own movie studio in Burbank. How in the heck did they get to be calling it Disney-MGM in the first place? Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor has always be a separate studio as far as I know (being from Los Angeles area) so was the name signifying a partnership of sorts with MGM?
