I was just wondering about the Region 1 packaging for the Platniums - Snow White, Batb and the Lion King...have they all been the same...i.e. opens like a book?
Does anyone have images they can post?
And what about Sleeping Beauty and future 2-disc Special Editions? Same deal?

Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast are the same. It's a slim double amaray case (like the Star Wars prequels DVDs, Shrek, Monsters Inc., Lord of the Rings theatrical, etc.). And there's a thin cardboard slip cover that goes over it, and which itself has a velcro thing that opens and just provides some pics of special features.
Snow White is like Disney's Collector's Editions up to that point - a double alpha case, wide like the Vault Disney, Tarzan, original A Bug's Life pressing, etc. I prefer these, myself, but the new case with the slipcover is growing on me, as Disney starts to find some temporary consistency.

Yeah, like everyone else said, I expect Alice, Poca, and Lilo's SE's to "open like a book" just like SB, B&tB, and TLK. I wonder how long this consistency will last, though, since we all know Disney hates commitment.

Not that long, I'd say. Just received Beauty and the Beast from Amazon.com and it did not come in a slipcase with the opening flap part. It's sealed an all, with the standard white tag over the top, leading me to speculate that these slipcase editions are even more limited. Shame, really. If these platinum titles are only out for a limited edition, why don't Disney at least stay consistent for each title?
Having said all that, are there any people in the US who could help track down Beauty and the Beast with the slip cover for someone in the UK?

If your looking for the Beauty and the beast with the slip cover I was at a store yesterday that has it and i just looked at their web site and they have a lot listed there. I don't know the web site address but to find it I just do a search for charlie's music city and it is the fist one that comes up and it will say something about how they have been in Vancouver for over 10 years. I hope that helps and they have it listed for $18.99 US and the shipping isn't to much.

I've just received my copy of Finding Nemo, and that has a cardboard slipcase around it. I was wondering, did Monsters. Inc have a similar slip case because mine doesn't. I live in the UK so I don't have the ability to browse around video stores in the US!

I have never seen a slip cover over any of the Monster's inc. I believe it was only available in the standard jewel 2 Disc case.

The latest re-release of A Bug's Life was similar to Finding Nemo slipcase-wise.

Thanks for the link. I may have to check them out. While we're at it, would there be any other US based suppliers please? Thanks.
Just wanted to add that different Regions had different style Cardboard slip-cases. The ones from the US have a flap that opens like a book as discussed. The UK ones I've seen are just simple sliders. The UK monsters inc came in a digipack edition aswell, still available. The slipcase edition of Sleeping Beauty is impossible to find (kicking myself), Bug's Life pops up here and there and Atlantis' treasure chest thingy is still widely available.
