Good for him. It's been a rumor since the band started, but for him to come out then could have been bad for the band. It's too bad that people have to be judgemental about this and that he had to hide it the whole time. I'm surprised he kept it from his band mates too.

I can't say this really surprised me, because rumors have been around since....oh....like 1997.

Hey, you have got five guys singing "I like it that way" to each other and you gotta take some shots over it.

Yeah, I agree with cydney. More power to the guy!

It's "I want it that way", which is a Backstreet Boys song, not an N'SYNC song.
How the hell do I still have that useless piece of information in my head?
As for Lance....eh, it doesn't matter to me who's gay and who's straight, so good for him. He could have announced that he'd be having a sex change and I wouldn't care.

As an Nsync fan from way back I'm not so much surprised that he's gay but more that he finally came out about it. It's something that has been quite obvious since the beginning.
I am curious as to how he told the other guys though. If they knew for a while or if he just told them because he was forced to come out. It did say in the excerpt that's in the new People magazine that Joey was the first of the guys to know. it just doesn't say how long he knew.

I guess this explains why his movie
On the Line sucked so much.
"The Odd Couple" sitcom sounds fun! Joey Fatone was hilarious in
My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding.

That's what I want to know!!

Hahahaha! Sis and I were laughing so much when we read that!

Sexual orientation shouldn't be a hindrance to one's acting abilities, otherwise you'd have to say that Ellen Degeneres can't act, when she can.
But
On The Line sucked regardless.

This is like Oprah announcing she's black. I wanna visit his/NSync fan sites and read comments LOL! All the girls who were in denial look like asses now.

I didn't think Lance Bass was gay.
Maybe a little weird but not gay.

Well, I never heard any rumors about him that I didn't hear about the other N'Sync and Backstreet Boys. But, anyway - congratulations, Lance. No one can bring you down but you!

I'm not shocked either about this big announcement. I do wonder what would have happened if he had come out at the height of *NSYNC's popularity though. I don't think it would've gone straight downhill for them like Lance thinks. I think you would've had alot more gay guys coming out to see them just for Lance.

I thought this was kind of funny. He was my favorite for a while back when I was 10 and NSYNC obsessed. My dad used to always tease that any actor or singer I liked was gay(just to agravate me) and I guess this time he was right, lol.

Oh yeah, by the way - I was shocked. I'm not sure I believe it yet, in fact. It's not about being skeptical - it's about having spent so long convincing yourself that if 1 of those boybanders was straight, and they were all singing about being in love with women, that they were all straight. Because I didn't want to be the rockhead who made assumptions based on appearence and was wrong. I mean, for my "who's gay?" money - I'm putting my bets on that Phil of the Future kid, the lead kid. Then I would have lost money on this guy, because I would have bet that Lance was straight. But if they had shown me that CNN picture, I think I would have changed my mind instantly. You can see it in his eyes. And by the by, I think he's ugly - but he looks great with facial hair. And he and Reichen? Will never last, mark my words. One of them will get fat or something. I swear. Or just be annoying, how many couples separate because of that? I think Tom Cruise was dumped by both Mimi and Nicole - not the other way around.

Color me surprised (but also more or less uninterested). NSYNC was one of the biggest acts of the last decade and even this one. That makes this is a far more significant announcement than Ellen's coming out, yet the minimal media attention doesn't reflect that. That really illustrates changes in American culture over the last decade.
I can't wait for the late night talk shows tonight.
