Do not adjust your monitor, I am really making a thread. It's my first one in about 7 months, so it feels wierd starting one.

Lately, when I try to make a post, the forums automatically log me off after it takes me longer than about five minutes to submit it. The strange thing is that it's hardly ever done that in the past, and when it does, it's when it takes me like, 25-30 minutes to post a message; the time limit's never been this short before. I normally don't mind logging back in, but whenever I do, I have to type my post all over again, hence my problem. It's especially bothersome when I'm making relatively long posts, and it's pretty annoying having to type it all over.

I guess my question is: Have the forums gone under any construction lately? Were the some modifications made that made the automatic-log-out-time-limit considerably shorter?

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem lately. If not, then forget I said anything; I don't want to disturb anybody.

Well, I'm really happy you posted this, Pasta67, because I've been wanting to ask about it. I think that I have the same problem, but I don't remember if it took more time for me to make a post before I was logged off in the past or not. I guess we'll have to see if you're right and something has shortened the time due to construction or something.

I do want to suggest one thing though. This has always worked except maybe once or twice for me. After I make a long post, or take a long time making a short one, I usually assume that I'm going to be logged out after I hit the "submit" button. So I copy all of my text, hit "submit", log back in, and paste it into the now empty post-making page that you go back to. If I forget to copy it before I hit "submit", I have always been able to hit the back button and copy it, execpt for maybe two times, as I said. Those were times when I probably was on for an unusually long time, like an hour. But as I said, just so you don't have to type everything over again, copy your text first.

Hmmm... I haven't had this problem at all. I actually never get logged out, no matter how long I'm in a posting screen. As far as I know, there haven't been any changes, but you'll have to ask Luke for sure. Maybe it's a cookies problem? Which browser are you using?

Ooh, darn, I'm terrible at technical questions. If you're asking what internet browser I'm using, it's Internet Explorer. I'm not... entirely sure if that answers your question or not. Sorry.

Oh, and Disney Duster, thanks for the suggestions (and the sig compliment). I'm a member of another message board that automatically logs you out after 10 minutes of inactivity, so copying my posts before submiting them has become a habit to me lately. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that does it. The problem is that unlike your computer, I can't click "back" and copy my post if it logs me out; the text is erased. So if I forget to copy my post (which happens often, since I'm not used to doing it in this forum), I can't go back and get it. But still, thanks again for the advice.

Your welcome, Pasta67. I'm sorry that you can't go back and get your text. But I'm sure that until this problem is figured out, at least you'll start to develop a habit of copying your text before you submit, so you won't forget.

Safari is my internet browser, AwallaceUNC, and I think it's only available on Mac computers. That may complicate things more, or that may say that internet browsers have nothing to do with it at all. Only time, and Luke, will tell. Maybe Luke is currently investigating now.

Hey guys, I've been without electricity for several days, which is why I haven't answered until now. I've experienced this phenomenon (doo-doo doo-doo) on occasion in the past, and I've resolved it in the following way: signing off the forum, doing a search for "ultimatedis" on your computer, finding and deleting any cookies bearing "ultimatedisney.com" on them, closing the browser, and visiting the forum anew and signing in.

I searched my computer, and didn't find anything. It came up with "0 items". But I have a Mac computer, not a PC, so that may have something to do with it. I'm not very good at technical stuff, so if there's no simple suggestions that only involve basic computer knowledge, I won't be able to do anything about it. It's not a huge problem, though. Maybe your idea at least worked for Pasta67?

Hmm. Well, it's cookies that keep you logged in on the forum, so you need to have them enabled to not have to keep logging in. I'm not sure what (if any) is the auto-log-out period if you don't have the option to "remember you" checked, but it shouldn't be an issue of having to keep signing in again and again.

Thanks, Luke. I did what you said, but this is my first post since doing it, so it's a little too soon to tell. If it helps, I wasn't logged off automatically while submiting this post, so it probably worked. Disney Duster's right though; it's not that big of a problem, but thank you for helping out anyway.

Well, I wonder if my computer has some anti-cookie software, or maybe there's just some option somewhere in my computer that says "disenable cookies" checked. Aside from that, I did not check the option on this Forum to "remember me", so could that be the reason why I'm logged off? I didn't want to check it because I didn't want to log in automatically when I visited the Forum, in case a guest on my computer would pretend to me be.
