Raven Symone in Babysitting Remake
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
July 12, 2006
Raven Symone (That's So Raven) is attached to star in the Walt Disney Pictures remake of Adventures in Babysitting, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The 1987 "Babysitting," which starred Elisabeth Shue, followed a high school senior who gets stuck baby-sitting a bunch of kids. The dull night is interrupted when she gets a call for help from a friend stuck downtown, leading her and the kids into a night of misadventures. The movie marked the directorial debut of Chris Columbus.
Lynda Obst, who produced the 1987 original with Debra Hill, is on board to produce the remake. David Stem and David Weiss wrote the script for the new "Babysitting." No director has been named yet.

I don't like this. I actually liked "Adventures in Babysitting". I don't think Raven Symone is a good replacement for Elisabeth Shue.

YES YES YES!
This is by far one of my favorite movies, and Raven is perfect! Can't you just imagine her looking at those kids when they are brats and say "You little nasty!"
Plus, after watching "For One Night", Raven really proved she can bring a solid serious performance.
Thanks Disney!

This girl is too fat to play the role that Elizabeth Shue did in the original. Why do they have to make a remake of a classic. This is so wrong. And with a no-talented person at that.
Remakes suck, and that is just my opinion.

Talent can be debatable, but too fat?!! What?!!!!
Oh, don't get me started.

What's next?
"Raven Symone Toplines the new "Swiss Family Robinson" remake!"

I'm weary of this, too. The original was great, and Raven is a terrible choice. I think I'll pass on this unless the trailers impress the heck out of me, which is very unlikely.

I agree with Bill that Raven is too fat that's why she always wears a jacket to cover her big fat belly full of fat.
I never seen Adventures in Babysitting but why a remake...stop with the remakes!!!

There goes any hope whatsoever of me liking the remake anywhere near as much as I love the original!

Well, I've never seen the original, but just the basics tell me this can't be good. Unless I am very impressed by the trailer (very unlikely) I will definatley pass on this. Raven has really been annoying me lately.

I just watched the original about 2 weeks ago (showing it to my 7 year old niece & it is her new favorite movie. She's had me show it to her 3 more times since). I am happy for the remake for ONE reason. Disney is bound to release a decent anamorphic dvd of the original to tie in with it (especially being its 20th anniversary). I'd love a fully loaded SE. I have zero interest as of now in the remake unless they give some of the original cast o kids decent parts as the adults in it.

Me too! And it's something that I wouldn't expect otherwise, even with it being something of a favorite for many people fond of '80s fare. So if nothing else, this remake (which I have close to no hope for) will hopefully introduce more people to the original and get us a neat 20th Anniversary Edition DVD. Let's just hope Disney doesn't try to come up with a "cool" edition name. Not like that matters.

Oh, I didn't think of that before! At least we could get something good out of this. I love the original movie, but I'm dreading this Raven remake.

I think Raven is a fantastic actress, unfortunatly ive never heard of the film so cant give my comment on weather she would do the part justice or not.

You mean like the "Ya Think Edition" or the "I'd Ask For A Buck More An Hour Edition"?

Come on guys...if you don't like Raven as an actress that's fine...but don't take cheap blows at her weight, that's just low. She's going against the grain and not conforming to this eat it and later puke it Hollywood we have going, and I admire her for that. However, I'm looking forward to this more family-friendly remake.
You little nasties...

Thank you. Raven is NOT fat, by any means. She is normal. The rest of Hollywood is too thin. I wish they had more actors and actresses who had bodies that resemble the rest of ours. And, how can you be "too fat" to remake a movie? REMAKE means 'to make again' not 'to duplicate'.

Add me to the totally disappointed they would remake that wonderful movie with such a great perfmance by Elizabeth Shue with a no talent replacement. Eck.

Raven's boobs are too big they would get in the way.
THis greatly dissapoints me, it is such a classic movie and raven would make everything all annoying. She would be delivering her lines in that loud, obnoxious way she always does.
