Well, I'd expect Donald volume 3 in 2007.

True. And if they keep the cycle continuing of releasing volumes of a series every OTHER year, we might see season 2 of "Spin and Marty".
...at least, that's what my wife hopes, as she's been anxiously awaiting the next installation of the serial.
How much more classic animation is there left to release? Is there enough of one or the other to warrant an entire set? My guess is there isn't (save yet another Donald disc, which they won't release in the same year), so we might see a hodge-podge sort of collection for the other animation disc.
Oh, and "Zorro", too.

Not much "classic" animation left - a forth DD volume and possibly some sort of "this and that" volume (similar to "Rarities") could cover the rest of the theatrical shorts. However, if we take various types of "educational" shorts into account, there is still more. I hope we'll get some more of that kind of material.

I agree that Chronological Donald Duck Vol. 3 would be a logical release.
Since wave 6 broke the pattern set of number of tins, we can't know for sure how many would be included. Wave 6 should have been 3 tins.
Assume a release date of December 2007.
Maybe this wave will have the long awaited and hoped for educational shorts.
Oswald?

I actually think there might be 3 or 4 tins in there somewhere: a "Rarities" v.2 with some more Alice shorts and perhaps Oswald?, DD v.4, an Educational Shorts disc (lots of Ludwig Von Drake stuff there), and the aforementioned "this and that" or "hodge podge" tin with the Minnie/Daisy/Chip'N'Dale/etc. shorts on them.
Time will tell...but I almost anticipate a quicker release schedule for whatever they have left in the queue with the impending format upgrade from DVD.

How about Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar? Pete? Huey, Dewey and Louie?
I'd say "no". Why?
Because their appearances are (will be) covered in the MM and DD volumes.
What's the point in me saying this? Because it's the same thing with Minnie and Daisy and MOST of C&D's appearances! There are about three shorts with C&D titles and a similar number of Figaro shorts.
I think this has been pointed out before in this sort of discussion, but I hope there won't be too much "double-dipping" to complete the theatrical shorts.
I don't quite see how a "Rarities vol 2" and/or other "this and that" volume with theatrical shorts could be two volumes without a lot of "double-dipping". And the Alice and Oswald series are nothing like complete in Disney's archives (or other archives as far as we know).

What about the long awaited for True to Life Adventures series or the live action shorts that Disney did. I think in the 50s and 60s there were a bunch of "Peoples and Places" short subject documentaries about different cultures around the world, not to mention short subject nature segments. I'm not sure if they would be in high demand, but I KNOW that the "People and Places" would be extremely rare.

Some of that is probably very interesting. I hope they'll be able to continue the Treasures concept for a while even after the theatrical shorts have been completed (which I hope they'll be within a couple of years, BTW...).

There are exactly three of each.

I suspect they'll release those six, along with things like
Scrooge McDuck and Money, Goofy's Freeway Trouble etc. in another Rarities set with more Alice and possibly other early cartoons.
What I'd love is a set with all of the Jiminy Cricket cartoons from The Mickey Mouse Club. A set with Ludwig von Drake episodes from Wonderful World of Color would be nice, although to my knowledge most of those consist of previously released material with von Drake only as the host. They could include about 5 of the best episodes in one Treasures set.

There's still quite a bit of Disneyland material left uncovered and the "Your Host, Walt Disney" set won't begin to be able to get all of it. I would love to see more of that as well as "True Life Adventures" (finally), the "hodge podge" animation set and/or an educational shorts set, and maybe more Mickey Mouse Club installments. It also wouldn't be unreasonable to ask them to look into post-Walt material, most notably Disney World specials.
Oh, and SOTS?

That's pretty much what I've been thinking as well. Then there's also the "Case of the Missing Susie and Casey". A set with all that would wrap up the theatrical shorts neatly. I fear that very different solutions would lead to lot of "double-dipping" and a "never-ending story".
Yeah, I've said that before - even in this thread.

Disney - get this right, pleeease.

I was going to say the same thing. I would really love another Treasure with Disneyland specials about Disneyland. The Osmond Brothers one being discussed somewhere else would be great. Not to mention the Television specials for the grand openings and anniversaries of the Disney Theme Parks would be great for a Treasures DVD.
Lol, yeah I can really see them having a SOTS Treasure when the Treasures line draws to a close. By then as it is right now, there'll be so much history relating to the very long awaited, controversial VHS/DVD relase that it would be a feature in the DVD. I'm still having difficulty seeing why Disney keeps denying us this movie. IMO, it'd probably sell the quickest and most because of the fans who have been waiting for it forever and all the people who want it to see what all the hullabaloo was about. But then they're worried about protesters and boycotters? Well...you can't please everybody so why make everybody miss out on this great movie? Sorry, I'm getting too off topic. We gotta go back to Wave 7...

As for protesting and other trouble I'd expect an anticlimax - if SotS ever does appear...

Perhaps I'm the only one who wants this (and sees potential in releasing it), but I would love to see--besides the remaining animation sets, True-Life Adventures, People and Places, educational releases, etc.--a set with Disney's 3D releases. Besides the theatrical releases of Melody and Donald Applecore in 3D, there are a number of films produced in 3D for the parks, including Magic Journeys, Captain EO, Muppetvision 3D, etc. How about a Treasure release including these (along with their 2D counterparts, when applicable), complete with a couple pairs of polarizing glasses?
...and I'm still hoping for a Treasure set with some films from the parks, including the defunct attractions like Horizons, as well as the replaced films like If You Had Wings.

Hey, um, this might be a stupid question, but when they release The Chronological Donald- Volume 3, will that complete all of the Donald shorts? And, on another note, I hope that they release Silly Symphonies- Volume 2, of Wave 6, in Australia. I've got the first one, I need to complete my collection! This is my 400TH post everyone!

Leonard Maltin told me that he suggested Disney do a True-Life Adventure set for one of the Treasures but they already had another release in mind. True-Life Adventures won't be released as a Treasure, but they should be released someday.
I think People and Places would make a terrific set for the Treasures. I don't normally buy many of the Treasures, but I would jump at that.

I haven't checked the exact count today, but - since they didn't include more than they did on the first two volumes - I think that even a forth volume will be required to complete the DD shorts. Hardly a stupid question, by the way - at least before volume two was released, this was not quite obvious, I'd say.

Oh, okay, wow- that's a lot of Donald. Thanks for answering Lars!

There are about as many DD shorts as there are MM shorts. There are four MM volumes. But the MM shorts were first and foremost organized with B/W and colour separately, so there couldn't very well be any less.
BTW, I'm happy to give the best answers I can to qeustions like these - a complete collection of classic Disney shorts has been a high priority for me for a few years now...
