Just got a slip in the mail with my monthly DMC envelope, and it stated this year's (Technically Next Year's if you count January) Disappearing Classics. The following will go Out Of Print on January 31, 2004:
Fantasia
Fantasia 2000
The Jungle Book 2
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure
101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure [is there an echo in here]
Sleeping Beauty
No wonder they put two huge classics like SB and TLK on the DVD scene for the first time this fall. They're stopping SB in January. There's only one semi-logical guess to the connection between these films, though it's kind of a wild guess and it has everything to do with the Platinum Collection. Fantasia and Sleeping Beauty are being pulled to make room for their Platinum Edition Re-Releases in several years and the rest are leaving to be re-released each as a counterpart to their original movie, which are all scheduled Platinums. Actually, now that I've written it out, it seems much more like a logical inference than a wild guess, but you never know with Disney.

One thing I don't get is. . why are some movies never put in the vault? take for instance "the emperor's new groove". i think it was released 2 years ago but is still being sold at the disney store.

What I'm wondering is... Why is it that a title like The Rescuers which was released 5 months ago is so hard to find in stores??? I wonder if it i'll return to the vault even before having gotten to many places...

I saw The Rescuers at Media Play (don't know where else those stores are, but we have them here near Charlotte) and i thought about Tangela

Does everything remind Tangela of The Rescuers?
Anyhoo, I'm glad Sulley is posting again and realized the error of his ways.
But I'm also glad that they're discontinuing direct-to-video sequels that I'll never buy rather than making me buy DVDs that are on my hypothetical "eventual purchases" list.
Good point, too, Sulley. As of January, these will all be out of print:

Fantasia
Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
Beauty and the Beast
The new Platinums, it seems.

Of the films going to the Vault,I have all but the Fantasia movies.But,I'm asking for the Anthology for Christmas.Also,on what Tangela said,that is weird.I can't find "Rescuers Down Under".One more thing,Tangela.I went your site.Everything's in Spanish.Why?

Tangela's Club Online was created for Mexican Soap Operas, but I think that will be coming to an end soon, I'm planning to change it and make it SantDoge's official website...

i dont mind the fantasia movies and sleeping beauty going to the vault but all the sequel movies should be burned rather than be stored in the vault.

I agree with you on the sequels, they aren't very good. It seems like the classics can't even be matched up with todays movies. You would think with all this new technology, we can get better movies. But the classics are still taking the cake.

The Rescuers is available online at most stores. It's not that hard to find. It's just as easy to order online as it is to go to a store. I don't get why people think things are hard to find when online stores such as Best Buy have it readily available if you want it.

I dunno i have to admit that Emperors New Groove and Lilo and Stitch i really enjoyed. it seems to be hit or miss nowadays. the misses for me being treasure planet and atlantis {which felt too much like a dream works cartoon for me}.
lilo and stitch for me is actually the funniest disney movie. i actually laughed out loud at certain parts.
now that ducktales can be found on kazaa {i've counted 97 eps there seems to be 3 that cant be found} i look at it from an adult perspective and really appreciate the time and quality that went into it. i mean some of the lines are funny, the animation is great for a tv show and the scripts were well done which says nothing of the voice talent which is tops.
like the movies though disney's "tv" division has also taken a hit though for me it really started after rescue rangers, every show was just a little less "wow" after that and gooftroop was probably the last one i really enjoyed.
didnt like the lilo and stitch marathon i saw this weekend either. the show seems to really be trying to push the gags.

You mean you didn't like Rescuers Down Under? I haven't seen the original Rescuers in like 10 years, but I remember loving how much the two films were alike.
