Question for all of you guys, that have bought the Collector's Edition of THE LION KING, with those sketches and the book.

How is the book like? What contents does it include? Is it worth it?
Is it the novelization, is it for kids or a Making of?

Can you give me some details, before I buy it?
peeeeeease....

Hello Quasi!

Well, I won't comment the DVD, since I think you must have read everything you need to know about it these days. As for the book, I thought it was nice, but it was mostly a deception. The book is very light on text. The first half of it is on the production of the movie and the DVD, but it consists basically of the same interviews from the DVD. It also promotes the DVD, talking about the restoration and the production of the extras. Nothing we already don't know. The second half is a children's storybook... as if we didn't know the story already!! The pictures of the film are very beautyful and in good shape, but unfortunately there is very little pre-production art.
Well, I will continue buying these boxes if Disney release them, but it could be a lot better (at least the book).

I thought the book was nothing more than a huge advert for the DVD - despite the fact that anyone who owned the book would have already bought the DVD.

The pictures are great, but there's not as many as I would have liked. The paper stock is good and glossy, aiding the reproductions of the images. The book is hardcover.

If anyone has the UK Snow White 2 disc set, the book that came with that was, like the DVD, many times better than this book.

I already bought the DVD, that's why I was wondering if I should also buy the COLLECTORS EDITION.
Thanks for the info, guys.
Tomorrow one of my students is gonna show me the book, cos he bought this set. Then I'll see if it's worth it to spend 40 more bucks in the Lion King...

I just had a thought ... I'd bet that book will turn up on eBay at some point (if it hasn't already). I'd check there first before doing anything else if you decide to buy the Gift Set.
