Yes. I'm 25 and don't have my license yet. Basically because I'm a big chicken when it comes to driving. I freak out and everything.

Anyway, I realized something....I don't remember what it is I need to do before I go to take the test. Is there anything? I'm in PA by the way.

I also just realized I may chicken out anyway since I don't want the people at the DMV to laugh at me when they realize that I'm 25 and don't have my license.

Sigh. I'm such a big baby about these things.

Someone make me feel better! Please!

My Stepmom was in her late 30's when she got her drivers permit, But she was a nun and did not need a car. Call your local Dmv and find out what you need. You may have to take a drivers ed course. Every state is different. Believe me I work at a DMV

Don't feel bad. I was 18 almost 19 when I got my driver's license. I took the test for my permit four times before I passed. I'd take the driver's ed course. In some states, insurance companies will give you a discount if you took a driver's ed course. Also, sometimes (I'm guessing they're all different), if you take a driver's ed course, they'll test you for your license and all you have to do is show up at a DMV office and take you pictures for your license. I took a driver's ed course and they tested me for my license and I got to skp the test at the DMV. I only had to have my picture taken for my license. I was so proud of myself that day that I spent the whole day in my car just driving around. You'll be fine. I'm sure the people at the DMV won't laugh at you for being 25 and not having a driver's license.

I bet there will be someone over 50 getting their license too!

When you're in a car, don't think about it too much. Just imagine you're in your car with your friends driving to the beach while watching a disney movie. I know I haven't done a single thing except my cousin making me drive his car around the church parking lot one morning waiting for the volleyball team to come. But imagining things is pretty helpful for me.

Don't worry about it either, I'm 19 and still don't have mine, and I'm on my 4th permit cycle. My Brothers are in thier late teens as well and don't have thiers either.

The New Jersey trilogy (all in college! ) is in the same boat as all of you! Wow, maybe it's members of this board or something...the UD Members' Non-Driver's Curse! lol, jk jk...

But yeah, we still don't have our licenses and our still having trouble with our DMV. My sister just found out her learner's permit did not expire, but apparently her credit of taking the Knowledge test certainly did! After you're 21, your test expires in a year. That sucks. Majorly.

I need to hurry up and practice and take the Road Test. I'm ultra terrified too, so I dunno if I can give you much advice.

But I do know, you'll most likely have to reapply for your permit and retake the Knowledge/written test. Some info may have changed since you last took the test. I'm not positive though since you're in PA.

Good Luck and don't feel ashamed. My mom didn't learn until she was pregnant with me and I'm the youngest. Thank goodness she didn't have an accident while learning or I might not have been here!

Don't think of being in your twenties and not having a driver's license as a curse--think of it as a blessing, considering where you live.

Having taken the permit WAY before I was even ready (at 15, I think I was the only high school freshman who was on the learner's permit because my parents wanted to save money, cheapskates), you should do a lot better than I did.

Just don't do what my parents did to me: making me take the learner's permit three weeks after my birthday. Trust me, when it comes time to calculate how many chances you'll get when it comes to the actual driving test, it won't be pretty.

I'm 20 (well, next month) and I've had my license since I was 16. Of course, when I took the road test I got the guy who shows no mercy to first-time takers. I was flunked because I did something that was sort of incorrect but wasn't even remotely illegal. Since the DMV was always busy, I had to wait two months to take the test again, and I got the same guy. I passed with flying colors. PWNx0r!!

I know a lot of people who don't have driver's licenses for various reasons. I'm glad I'm not one of them, but I understand their plight and I'm always willing to chauffeur.

Don't sweat it, Disney Lover. You're not the only person who doesn't have a license. The DMV people don't care one jot. You're just another customer in the queue; they're not gonna laugh.

Don't be intimidated by your friends or even the people around you. No one is going to laugh, and I guarantee no one will look down on you because of your age. Just make sure that you have all the tools available to make your testing easier. If you have to have attended a Driver's Ed course, you may need proof of that, and then get your permit, and have someone that you trust and trusts you, let you do some driving. First in the country, or at least where there is no a lot of distractions so you can get comfortable with the car and all its little nuances. Try to drive the same car you will be using in your driving test, it will add to your comfort zone. Don't rush things, let it all happen naturally. You have been this long without a license a few extra days isn't going to hurt.

I have been a licensed driver now for 51 years, and have never had a ticket or an accident. But I also had one heck of a teacher, my Dad, he drove until he was 91 years old before he gave up his license (because he said things were just getting too fast for him). He had over 70 years behind the wheel and never had a ticket or accident.

Can you get your license at 16 in all 50 of your United States?

I would think Lars, but I'm not sure, even though I live in the U.S., but then again, I'm only 14. DVDJunkie, how old are you?

Here we have to wait until 18 - which sometimes quite obviously is soon enough...

I also waited a few years beyond the age I could've started getting my license at. In Ontario, we have a 3 level graduated system... G1, G2 and full G. To get the first one, it's just basically a written test. After a year (8 months if you go to a driving school) you can try for the G2, which is a road test. A year after that you can go for the G, which is another road test.

I started the process when I was about 20, as opposed to the minimum of 16. I went to Young Drivers, so I was able to take the G2 test 8 months after that. While I'm now eligible to go for the full G, I haven't yet. I have made an appointment for it, though, in late September. I'm 23 now.

You're not alone, Tabbi! I'm 18, having a driver's permit, and didn't even get a chance to drive a car with my mother yet. I know I'm lazy, but I need to drive it around during the summertime. In the end, I have to take the driving test at the local DMV for upgrading my permit to driver's license.

I'd tell you good luck, but you won't need it cuz you'll do fine. I didn't get my license until a year after everyone else in my class, and one of my friends is currently taking lessons at the age of 24. Nothing to be ashamed or embarassed about, people just take life at their own pace.

50 hours?? wow! We only need 6 hours behind the wheel! Wow NJ is awfully trusting...

Anyhow, in NJ you have to be 18 now if you don't want restrictions on your license. You can get it when you are 17 but then you have the "Cinderella License" lol. That means you can't go driving after midnight of course. I think it used to be 16 back then but they changed it.
