So I broke my car coming home from work today, a fire truck / ambulance decided that there was no need to alert anyone that it was hauling down the street and nearly pushed me off the road and into the curb...I’m fine but my car is now in the shop and I had to walk home from the repair place...that was not fun...they should really put the sirens on when they are flying down busy streets.

Having a car in the shop is no fun, I have had my cars in the shop many times, One time my car broke down and I had to walk over 15 miles to get home, twice I have been driving down the road and a wheel passes me then My rear end hits the ground and I have no breaks because the wheel bearings cut through the wheel joint and the brake came off in the wheel and the brake line was gone. fun trying to stop... Broken radiators, Water Pumps, Fuel Pump, cylanoid, blown engine, warped head, bad alternator, flat tires, bad computer chip, you name it has happened to me.

Then they rip you off with the labor charge, they will charge you whatever the book says even if it takes less time

My recipe:

1. Drive a quality car.

2. Whenever, on the rare occasion, something has to be done, use someone you know.

I know how you feel. I wrecked my car a few years ago and I had to borrow cars and get rides while mine was getting looked at. Of course in the end they told me it was totalled and I got a new better car from it, but it still sucked. That car was a piece of crap though. Almost ever time I drove back and forth from college it broke down. I had pretty much replaced everything in it.

That Sucks!!!
My car's fuel pump has gone to the crapper and is causing my engine to run lean (in lamens terms "crappy") so I just need to get that new fuel pumb and she'll be as good as new again. :)

The last time I had to take my car to the shop was when the driver's side door broke. I could not open the door from inside the car. If I wanted to get out I'd have to roll down my window, stick my hand out the door, open the door from the outside, roll up the window then lock and close the door. I could open the door from the outside though. I only got my door fixed after nagging my dad. It was so EMBARASSING rolling down my window and sticking my hand out to open the door when I was in the car. Now I can open the door normally.
