It's already been done. Atlantis: The Lost Empire - Collectors Edition. Perfect in every regard.

For me, a perfect Disney (well Touchstone) DVD would be The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy with the fantastically brilliant, original and amusing "Guide Entry" trailer on the disc.

It's not much to ask is it? Sort it out Disney.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007: I hope I will not regret returning to this thread later on and that some people have learned their lesson. I hope that any future posts after mine will not contain anything remotely similar to descriptions and names for bonus features, packaging, banner names, etc. From now on, if any of my new descriptions or featurettes are copied and slightly modified for someone else's set, I will pull out once again, and simply ignore that user's messages on the boards. It's not my thread, but I'll ask Sequel to once again ask for it to be closed, to further prevent more acts of plagiarism.

The Perfect DVD set for the perfect movie is pretty much the UK Beauty and The Beast Special Edition Collector's Edtion digipack... The only changes I would make to the set for it to be perfect is makeing it into a 3-disc set... Disc-1 containing the movie ONLY so that the sound and picture quality would be perfect... Disc-2 containing the work in progress- verison of the film, and some bonusfeatures conserning to WIP version, and disc-3 containing all the bounusfeatures from the 2002 release.

Wow Disneykid! That's pretty extensive! I figure that some of the Music and More came from the LD. That would be a great edition!

Yup, all of the song demos in the music section are from the LD, and the DVD has a grand, whopping total of six of them. Hopefully when Disney revisits Alice on Blu-Ray, the edition really will be this definitive. At least I'll be held off in the meantime with the DVD a certain someone on this board is making for me of the missing LD features.

And who is that certain someone?

Peter Pan Platinum Edition, complete with lengthy featurette, deleted scenes and songs, and pretty cover art.

A re-release of Fantasia I think would be great, but on www.disney.co.uk it says it's not going to be available till 2011! That's why I'm scavenging for the 60th Anniversary Edition on Ebay.

By the way, I think it's rather disappointing that Dumbo did not a get a special 2-disc release, and although Mr. Wallace's review says the video is better than the DVD's predecessor edition, it appears that it still is no big deal compared to Lowry Digital Restorations.

The problem is that it's taken 5 years for Dumbo to get a re-release, now we have to wait ANOTHER FIVE YEARS to see if Dumbo gets released in a decent package!?

SO, yes, Dumbo needs the 2-disc treatment.


By the way, don't pelt me with tomatoes and cabbages, but I've actually never even seen Song of the South!

It has been at least 25 years for me since I have seen Song of the South, I remember some of the characters, thats all
