BURBANK, Calif., May 26, 2006 – It’s good to be a bear in the all-new animated movie Brother Bear 2, the
hilarious sequel to Walt Disney Pictures’ wildly successful Brother Bear (a Theatrical hit and a top-selling DVD
title in 2004), on Disney DVD August 29. An exciting film about enduring friendships and following one’s
heart, Brother Bear 2 welcomes back the human-turned-bear Kenai and the young cub Koda, plus Rutt and
Tuke the wisecracking moose. New to the wild tundra are Rutt and Tuke’s comical paramours the
“moosettes,” plus the outrageous Sha-Woman, and Kenai’s childhood friend and love interest Nita. Music
superstar and Grammy® Award-winner Melissa Etheridge performs three sensational songs for Brother Bear
2, including two new songs written by Melissa Etheridge specifically for the film. Acclaimed rising musical star
Josh Kelley (top-ten hit “Amazing” and new album “Almost Honest”) performs, with Melissa Etheridge, the
moving end-credit song.

Loaded with star power, Brother Bear 2 features new voice Patrick Dempsey (hunky star of TV’s “Grey’s
Anatomy”) as Kenai, with Jeremy Suarez (Jordan on TV’s “The Bernie Mac Show”) reprising his role as Koda.
Rick Moranis (“Honey I Shrunk The Kids”) and Dave Thomas (TV’s “Grace Under Fire”) return as the comically
mixed-up moose duo of Rutt and Tuke. For the new characters, recording artist and actress Mandy Moore (“A
Walk To Remember,” “The Princess Diaries”) voices Nita; the hilarious comedienne Wanda Sykes (“Over the
Hedge”) is Innoko the Sha-Woman; and Andrea Martin (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) and Catherine O’Hara
(“Chicken Little”) play the moosettes Anda and Kata, respectively.

Exclusive, never-before-seen bonus features are: “Trample Off, Eh?” where viewers help Rutt and Tuke win a
date with the moosettes by answering fun trivia questions about the movie; and an exclusive “Behind The
Music” featurette on Melissa Etheridge and how she was inspired to write songs for the movie. Available only
on Disney DVD for $29.99 (S.R.P.) from Walt Disney Home Entertainment on August 29, 2006.

In Brother Bear 2 Kenai emerges from his first hibernation hungry as - well, a bear - and eager to take his little
brother Koda to Crowberry Ridge for the best spring berries. Their buddies, Rutt and Tuke, have come down
with a severe case of spring fever and are busy courting a pair of moossettes, with hilarious results. But Kenai
and Koda are immune, intent on following their plan. That is, until Kenai’s childhood pal Nita shows up with a
very human problem only Kenai can solve, and his plans change. Big time.

It seems a simple carved amulet Kenai gave Nita long ago had a greater significance than either of them
realized. Now Nita can’t marry until she and Kenai burn the amulet together at Hokani Falls, their old stomping
grounds. They set off on an arduous and tumultuous journey over icy mountains, raging rivers and unforeseen
obstacles. It’s an adventure that renews their friendship, redefines who they are, and ultimately reveals that
the Great Spirits have a surprising plan of their own.

For a change, Australia is not too far behind in the DTV stakes, with our copy coming out August 30.

I will also defend these DTVs, especially given most people that hate them have only seen one or two (if any)! They continue to get better with each release, and the original Brother Bear surprised me with just how good it actually was. Mind you, I was expecting a turkey, so it was a massive step up.

Cheers, L.

plus the outrageous Sha-Woman
 yeah right, she's no Edna Mode...

anyway, if the moose brother have lots of screen time I'll give it a chance. They were very funny... loved the moose commentary on the special edition dvd of thr original film.

I like those stills, and plotwise, this sounds surprisingly original for a cheapquel, so I'll give it a fair chance.

Other than the unsurprising lack of significant supplimental material on the DVD, the only major negative I can find here is that Phil Collins wasn't involved in the music at all, since he was so closely linked to the original; I expect he was too busy with Tarzan's Broadway bow to find time for this as well.

Well, that and Joaquin Phoenix isn't back as Keani (I guess he got too expensive after Walk the Line.) But they got the one and only McDreamy instead, so can't complain there. Dempsy's perfect, and hearing him in this will help tide me over until the third season of Grey's Anatomy starts airing in September. Still not buying this until I've rented it first in case it sucks, but I think this one is worth a shot.

Oh, and it would have been great to get this animated in 2.35:1 again, but I guess that's asking too much for a DTV, no?

I'm so excited! The first movie is what made me actually like Disney again. If it weren't for it I don't think I'd appreciate Disney as much as I do now.

I can't wait for this DVD! And it arrives the same day as the Talespin & Darkwing Duck boxsets. O_O Oh whoa is my wallet. >_<

sounds like a cheapquel to me...
And let me guess, at the very end Kenai´s girlfriend will become a bear and marry Kenai?

Is it wrong to have this anticipated more than any other animated film this year?

Rick Moranis' and Dave Thomas' return is bound to mean this movie will rock and the trailer on both Chicken Little and Narnia made the movie look like it had a well-told story.

I'm actually anticipating this DVD much more than The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition.

The plot sounds interesting. Brother Bear 2 sounds like it will be a decent sequel, but not a cheapquel. :) I wanna see Rute and Tuke try to court the moosettes. lol

I want to learn more about the amulet too. I also believe that the stills are good.

Thanks for sharing the press release Luke.

How do you figure it's a cheapquel? Don't diss before you have seen it.

But come on, Bambi is Bambi

Besides, two real sequels, one after another, that would be, at least for me, unvelibable

Will the quality of the animation be at least close to what WDFA used to do?

I'm still getting Brother Bear 2 even if it's a cheap sequel.
By the way I already have all the Disney sequels.

The girl on the cover looks like something between Nani from Lilo&Stitch and Mulan.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but "Brother Bear II" will be having a premiere screening at this year's Comic-Con 2006 in San Diego, CA.

It's going to be in the Sunday programming schedule, seeing that's the 'family'-oriented day of the convention.
