How come France has a 2 disc Peter Pan and we don't?

Peter Pan was released in the U.S. in early 2002 as a paltry 1 disc DVD. Why on earth didn't we get a 2 disc release like France? Do you think we will get a 2 disc Special Edition Peter Pan (like we did with Sleeping Beauty) before the Peter Pan Platinum comes out? Otherwise we would have to wait until 2009 for a 2 disc set if we take into consideration the seven year moratorium.

Since now it seems like all their movies are coming out as 2 disc "special editions", the least they can do is go back and make the initial 1 disc releases all 2 disc!

Eventually, yes, we will see a two-disc Peter Pan set, but it will be the Platinum, which probably means it will be on HD-DVD. I find it highly unlikely Disney will revisit Peter Pan for a third release on standard DVD, especially considering how long they like to keep things out of print.

No, it's been added to the Platinum Collection so it will eventually find it's way to R1 DVD.

I know that: what I was saying was that I don't think the two-disc Platinum version will come until Peter Pan comes up for release on HD-DVD. I think it's pretty obvious by the fact that they didn't change the labelling on this year's Sleeping Beauty that the additional four Platinums will only be added in the second, HD-DVD Platinum cycle.

Peter Pan was never released as a 2-disc collector's set though, while other titles such as Sleeping Beauty, were. Disney will not suddenly abandon their potential DVD market the second HD-DVD is introduced, no production companies will as I'm sure the integration to HD-DVD will be a long and iffy process given the commercial viability of the DVD market today. People will not be so willing to suddenly swicth formats given all the time and money they have invested in their current DVD collections, unless their is substantial reasoning behind it. Disney will still cater very much to the DVD market and production will not suddenly cease upon theintroduction of new technology. While more limited, even VHS is still in production today. If Disney has added Peter Pan to their upcoming Platinum Collection than you can bet that it will appear on DVD sometime in the future. Afterall, it will be very difficult for Disney / BVHE to market discs to a media format that's scarcely adopted.
