I was only able to catch the first half, but IIRC, the first gentleman tripped and fell into this intern to balance himself, a picture was taken to make it look like he purposely grabbed her breast (he didn't), and most the episode was about debunking that rumor, with some marital arguments also going on for the president and husband.

This was a great episode. This show just continues to impress me. I sure hope that ABC will continue to keep it on the air. I need my weekly dose of a President that I actually like!

It's still doing terrible ratings wise. I don't think they'll renew it unless it can get a little bit of a ratings increase soon.

The Article wrote:Despite a renewed promotional push by the Walt Disney Co.-owned network, and a shift to a less competitive time slot, "Commander" has continued to lose viewers since returning this month from an 11-week winter hiatus.
And THAT'S why it's losing viewers. Long hiatuses work for shows like 24 and Prison Break, but not for a show like Commander in Chief. Coupled with the fact that they moved it from (IMO) a good Tuesday 9 pm slot to Thursday at 10, they might as well call it a series finale this May. But scheduling problems aren't the only thing killing the show.

I've watched most of the episodes of CiC, and their main problem is the lack of any real tension and/or conflict. Every episode plays like a fly on the wall of a very boring president. Sure, you've got a few good things to look forward to (I especially remember the episode where they were going to rescue the Chinese defector...who brought her mother and child), but as a whole, each episode is like "Here's a 40 minute version of a few days in the life of a president".

Last year, the WB show "Jack and Bobby" (about a future president) had the same predicament. Well received by critics, wonderful stories, but hardly anything worth watching once a week. Should we have cared that Jack slept with a minister's daughter after he made an oath to him not to? Should we feel for Grace's brother for failing to settle down anywhere and always being on the run? The show was wonderful acting and storywise, but how they executed it all in an episode made for a very long hour every week. And a long haitus killed it too.

I guess all I'm trying to say is the reason the show has bad ratings is two things:

1. Schedule problems (11 week hiatus and new night and time)

2. Story problems (lack of any real conflict worth watching once a week).

I'm sorry to say but I really don't think the show will be on the Fall schedule. ABC has just decided to pull the show for a month and will air the last 3 episodes starting in June after the May sweeps period.

I logged onto the net, and the first thing I saw in the news section of MSN.com was this piece of news.

The story from MSN.com is pasted, below:

ABC Shelves 'Commander in Chief'
May 3, 3:45 PM EST

The Associated Press

On the same day Geena Davis accepted an award for her portrayal of a female president, ABC shelved "Commander in Chief" for the crucial May ratings sweeps.

That's an ominous sign for the series' future. The remaining three episodes will air in June, the network said.

"Commander in Chief" started strong for ABC last fall but faded — to the point where it was briefly taken off the air before being given another chance this spring. It went through three supervising producers in one year.

Meanwhile, Davis accepted an award for her portrayal of President Mackenzie Allen Tuesday night at the United Nations from The White House Project, a nonprofit organization that works to promote women's voting, political participation and leadership, with a goal of electing a woman president.

"So many countries have had a female head of state before us," she told the 500 guests at a dinner in the U.N. Delegates Dining Room. "So it is certainly time."

Davis told a predominantly female crowd that it was appalling that the United States hadn't elected a woman president.

"Year in and year out there are real-life gains being made by women, but there is still a huge gender disparity," she said.

But "if elected to another season — uh, term," Davis joked, "whatever I can do to make change happen quicker in the fake world, I promise to do."

Poll results don't look promising. The show ranked No. 64 in the Nielsen Media Research rankings last week, with 6.5 million viewers.

ABC announces its fall schedule in two weeks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't care what the numbers say, this is a good show. If ABC does not renew it, I will just stop watching ANYTHING that ABC produces, in protest. I am a Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy fan, but, I will just not watch them on ABC, if ABC doesn't get their act together. I'll just buy the DVD's, when they are released. If that sounds like I'm being stupid, whatever. ABC is pissing me off!

Here's another article. In the article Donald Sutherland says that the network has apparently told him that it would take a miracle to see a 2nd season.

Well at least we get the show on DVD in the Fall. The show was good but just wasn't strong enough ratings wise.
