I thought you hardcore fans might be interested to see... I found it lying around in my picture folder... My favourite is without a doubt the concept of a Little Mermaid dark ride, and I also love the Russian Pavillion concepts! Anyway... Enjoy!

I really like the Russian pavilion sketches...personally, I wouldn't mind seeing it instead of the American pavilion in Epcot, since I always thought that was sort of redundant given all of the Americana attractions in the Magic Kingdom.

As for attractions...they could have had a CircleVision or Soarin'-type show following the route of the Trans-Siberian railway, or a gift shop with Faberge-inspired gifts. And for walk-around characters, how about the dancing flowers from the Nutcracker segment of Fantasia?

I don't think another CircleVision show at Epcot is really needed, but the character idea sounds awesome! I think a new pavillion like this has real potential! Here's hoping they announce something for Epcot's 25th.

Heheh, what can I say, I'm just a huge CircleVision fan...I mean, I much prefer it to that "Rio Del Tiempo" fake Mexico pastiche. It's at least a better idea than, say, a dark ride called "Escape from Pripyat" where you have 3 minutes to get out of town before Chernobyl explodes

Anyway...they could also have characters from Peter and the Wolf or...maybe Chernobog? The problem is, most Russian-themed animated movies (An American Tail, Anastasia, etc.) have been done by other studios. Still, a recreated Kremlin/St. Basil's cathedral would be awesome.

The next to last picture looks like it served as inspiration for Expedition Everest.

A Russian pavillion would be cool. Either that or India, that way we could have a good Indian restaurant there since there aren't any of those at WDW. I'm sure they are planning something big for Epcot's 25th.

Since they already have a whole India-themed section in Animal Kingdom (which has details that are as authentic as anything in Epcot), they could build a more upscale Indian restaurant there, I would think. The better restaurants in Epcot are definitely above the normal WDW fare (the Italian restaurant is one of the better ones in Orlando, IMO), and there's no reason they couldn't extend this sort of service to other parks, especially to Animal Kingdom which already has somewhat of an international flair. An excellent African restaurant already exists at the Animal Kingdom lodge...how about something for the Asian section?

Wow - this stuff is great. Thanks a lot for sharing. The dark rides sound very promising... too bad we haven't seen them come to fruition. The Russia/Switzerland pavilion looks gorgeous.

I'm always mixed when it comes to unused concept art: the fanboy in me loves seeing all these neat concepts, but that same fanboy REALLY wishes that some would come to fruition.

A TLM or BatB dark ride would just about rock my world. Indeed, I am the biggest proponent of dark rides. A well-made dark ride can be far more satisfying than the most thrilling of drops and loops.

The Russian Pavillion is exquisite, and an example of Disney Imagineering at its most inventive, creative and artistic. Maybe one day in the future we will see something like it appear...

However, as a big fan of westerns - they are probably my favourite bit of Americana - the thing that would literally float my boat would be the Western River Expedition. Quite frankly, I often wish I was born in another era and was a gunslinger in the old west.

Hey, this sounds like the perfect new ride for California Adventure...make it a gold rush-themed ride area, and possibly model it after Bodie, California's most famous ghost town

Seriously, why settle for Bear Mountain when there's so much real stuff in the state to pay tribute to?

The company that runs the Rainforest Cafe is building a large pan-Asian themed restaurant in the Animal Kingdom. They are also building a dinosaur themed restaurant in Downtown Disney.

Haha, takes me back to the days when one of the biggest rumors around was "THEY'RE PUTTING A MATTERHORN IN DISNEY WORLD!" 10-ish years ago.

I heard that they'd had lots of plans for a Russian pavilion that Russia was going to sponsor, but they (Russia) couldn't afford to go through with it.

I think there was supposed to be a ride in Germany once upon a time too.

I hope that someday maybe SOME of these ideas, or better ones, can come to be...I think WDW needs a little sprucing up and extra TLC.

Yeah, I have a concept of the place where it was supposed to be built, but it ain't very interesting.

I feel your pain! As a fan it always disappoints me to see all this great unused ideas go to waste. Such a shame... And by the way, I'm also a HUGE fan of dark rides. I remember during my trip to Disneyland Paris, I HAD to ride all the dark rides, despite some so-so reviews. I just have to see 'em all, however dated they may be! My favourites are no doubt Phantom Manor, Pirates of the Caribbean and the amazing Space Mountain of Paris.

Me too! Thank You, DisneyFan 2000!!! I read about those darkrides before and I was wondering what they were supposed to look like. The Little Mermaid darkride was apparently supposed to have this stellar new underwater feel tehnology. I wish that this was build at the Living Seas in Epcot rather than or in addition to Nemo. The BatB darkride would be awesome at France in Epcot! Epcot should use these unused concepts!

Just thought of something...do you think they'll add/had plans for an ocean themed area of Animal Kingdom? After all sea creatures are also part of the animal kingdom...then again so are platyhlmenthies and rotifera (yay for Gen Bio!), but you don't see those being honored anywhere at all in the park.

Dude the Little mermaid dark ride stuff is AWESOME! Too bad they didn't go through with it, there isn't a TLM dark ride @ WDW is there? I've never been there, only DL. But that concept art is so cool...I think that would've possibly been the coolest dark ride ever (next to peter pan that is) It would be so pretty if they did the "kiss the girl" scene.

I personally think that Disney should do a lot more dark rides, they are so much fun! the concept art for the Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid rides only supports that idea in my mind!
