I wasn't a huge fan the first time I rode this one...it had FINALLY opened after years of "Opening This Year!" messages that hadn't amounted to any more than talk. But it was OPEN, and my mom and I were going to ride it!!!! Well, it had to break down first. End result was we waited in line about 2 hours at the end of the day when we were tired...we were SO close to the loading area and they said it'd be running again 'any minute' that we didn't want to get out of line...and by the time we thought 'this is getting ridiculous,' we figured 'well, we've waited this long already.' And it was fun, but we weren't really INTO it.

I like this ride a LOT more now, but I usually FastPass it. I think that seeing the sorts of different tests they run and getting to experience them, in a way, is really really cool. And I'm a dork who loves the preshow video. (And can thus tell you the first hill is a 26.8 grade...) I do think that this ride suffered from a lot of hype...yes, it's the fastest ride at WDW, but the ride isn't a roller coaster; the fast part is only one component of a ride that has a series of different experiences. And the unending delay of the opening got anticipation worked up to levels where it was impossible to live up to the hype. Still, I'd say it's a lot of fun; the turns and the fast part are cool, and I am also a sucker for the brake test. I like that it's educational, too; so much of Epcot is moving away from that aspect of what the park set out to be.

I'd give it a B+...a good ride experience and learning experience, but not the ultimate thrill ride it sounded like it would be. One of Future World's highlights.

According to my sister (who's done Operations for Fantasyland rides and Tomorrowland Indy Speedway), Test Track is the WORST attraction to be assigned to. Something about how it always breaks down, how it's loud and noisy, how guests complain about it all the time, etc.

As for me, it was great the first time we rode it, pretty good the next couple of times, but after a while it gets rather tiresome. It's no "World of Motion", which is both good and bad. Good in that it's a nice fast (but brief) thrill ride. Bad in that it's a thrill ride. EPCOT is about discovery and technology and culture. Test Track is just a thrill ride under the guise of technology (then again so is Mission Space...)

Thanks for that.

I often hear theme park enthusiasts talking about the Test Track and I had no idea what it was :)

It's terribly overrated.

It starts off great, with a funny pre-show, and the "tests" you get to go through are fun but the ending kills it IMO.

Even though you go 56 miles per hour(the fastest for a Disney ride), there are no dips or sharp turns so for me it really didn't feel fast. It also ends way too short, I mean you only go around the whole track once!

I mean it's still fun and and it's not bad for Epcot's first real thrill ride, but I don't think it's nearly as great as crowds make it out to be.

Mission Space is definetely the better thrill ride.

I liked Test Track. It's not great, but it's fun and I enjoyed it. I was last there in one September, so the park wasn't packed. I don't think I'd wait in a long line for it though. I'll ride it again whenever I go back.

Test Track was fun, however, it's not one of the better wides of Disney World; I would say it's the most skippable of the thrill rides at Epcot. But it's worth trying at least once.

I rode Test Track, during my last trip. It's not my favorite Epcot attraction, but I still enjoyed it. I liked the indoor elements of the ride better than the outdoor part. The outdoor lap around the track is fast, but it is disappointingly short.

The one time I was able to ride Test Track was a few years ago when I was on vacation with my friend's family. Her sister is disabled and in a wheelchair, so even without a FastPass, there wasn't much of a wait (most Disney attractions have very nice and convenient lines for handicapped guests and their families). Another bonus was that since it was so difficult to get her in and out of the vehicle, we were allowed to stay on the ride for several runs (3 or 4 times). It was great fun. :tink:
