Sweet. I have to admit though, when I first saw a picture of the Anastasia vhs, I thought it was a Disney movie.

Only typical of FOX to do this, but great to hear the 2-Disc is finally coming out!

YES!!! I knew it would be smart to hold out on this movie. This one's too good for Fox to leave as a single disc edition DVD!

I'll be picking this up, no doubt.

I'll be picking this up for sure. Anastasia's one of my favorite non-Disney/Pixar animated films, and the $19.99 retail price is dirt cheap for a two-disc set (you'll be able to find it easily for $14.99 or so). I'm glad I held off getting the single disc. Good things come to those who wait.

I think it's one of the best non-Disney hand-animated films out there, and it's nice to see it get the SE treatment it deserves. Oddly, it's coming out several months before the Platinum Edition of The Little Mermaid comes out in October 2006. In 1997, Anastasia came out in theaters in November when Disney re-released The Little Mermaid into theaters. It's odd that SEs for both of these movies are coming out on the same year...

Yay. It's nice that there's going to be a 2-disc edition of this movie. This is good news indeed.

Woohoo! Kram had the single-disc edition, now I can rub it in his face when I get the 2-disc edition (assuming of course, he doesn't know about the 2-disc...).

Yes!
Ha, my friend thought it was a Disney movie. I was 7 when it was released, and the first time I ever saw it was last year, but I've always known it was a FOX movie.

I do now

. I dunno if I will double dip. Is it a totally new Making Of feature? Also, this "Family Fun Edition" title sounds totally cheesy. I don't think that really makes families want to buy the DVD. Can't they just stay with Special Edition?

Here is the cover for the 2-disc "Anastasia."

I dont like the cover art. No Rasputin, No Vladimir and the Anastasia's face makes her look like an oversized elf.
EDIT: YAY 1700th post!

Here, let's see if this one works:
Even though Anya's off-model, I still think both she and the cover look beautiful. The "Family Fun Edition" banner isn't as annoying as I was expecting it to be, and it seems Fox is mimicking Disney when it comes to style because:
1. The artwork is rendered like a dimensional painting as opposed to flat animation-style artwork. Disney's been doing this since their Snow White cover back in 2001.
2. The fancy box containing the film's logo which Disney has done continuously instead of just putting the logo over the artwork.
3. The spine having "so and so edition" next to the title just like how Disney puts their own "so and so edition" titles on their spines.
My only annoyance with the cover is having Bartok there. Not only is he next to the title plaque, but he's also on the spine. He should be removed from the spine (and replaced with her dog if they need a sidekick there). If he must be on the front cover, then Rasputin should be added lurking behind the staircase or something, otherwise Bartok just looks really out of place.

I am so excited for this release. Anastasia has always been one of my favorite films. The cover is ok, but her face is weird.

Dvd active does someting so that you can only see what they post on there site. But I could see it because it was added to my link at the top and just now Disneykid did it from a differing site.
Also for some odd reson amazon says that Bartok the Magnificent will be on Disc 2 (which I doubt).

DavisDVD (the site I got the cover from) also says that the Bartok spin-off will be included. Even though I have no interest in seeing it, it would still be a nice inclusion as long as it isn't eating up the main feature's bitrate (which, if it's on disc two with the supplements, shouldn't be a problem).

I don't like the cover art, it's really ugly.

It's just her face they need to fix. Apart from that the cover is perfectly fine to me.
