Now I don´t understand!
Have they changed more than what was first told?
Was it not only a new sequence that should be added.
Morning Report have nothing to do with the song I Just Can´t Wait to Be King, or has it?

Cherny, its the 'Original' cut on the DVD is not the original cut at all - it's the IMAX cut, with all the IMAX changes - crocs, waterfalls, different colours, enchanced detail on distant characters etc. Pretty much all of the film is altered is some respect (most likely colours).

Disney are lying when they say it is the original cut.

Call Disney España and tell them!

by Chernobog
The people of Disney España don't know what are they selling or what are you asking to them. And they must think that consumers are stupid.

For example:

Disney Spain Female Voice: Hello?
Chernobog: Hello, I'd wanted to know if Sleeping Beauty is going to be released in widescreen.
Disney Spain Female Voice: w-wide..what?
Chernobog: Doesn't matter, bye

MMBOY: Oye!
Carajo!

hehe that's what I would say! hehe please...... I ain't play no games! lol

While I agree Disney should really be having the original cut on the DVD, I probably never would have noticed the difference in the crocs, honestly. I don't think one looks better than the other.

More than anything it's the principle Jack. If Disney had a little disclaimer or something:
Original Cut *

* As shown on IMAX screens
then it wouldn't be such a big deal. But it would still be disappointing. But it's the false advertising that troubles and annoys me the most.

I like the new crocks, maybe better, I don't know, but I definately think they should only apear on the SE/I-Max/Mourning Report version, and left the "original" alone that way you really would be getting 2 very different versions of the film, and people could say wow, what a differnce the I-Max touching up made, I doubt a whole lot of people will notice the subtle differnces though, I mean apart from all of us.

2099net: I'm as angered as you are that the they are using false advertising. And I'd prefer having the original over the S.E. I was just saying that the crocs is a change I probably wouldn't have noticed. I haven't watched the movie as many times as others have.

Since Disney is using seamless branching to connect both the "original" (as shown on IMAX) and the extended (Morning Report) versions without wasting bandwith on a single disc, they would need a completely different MPEG-2 file (and thus, put on another DVD disc) for the TRUE original (that was shown in theaters in 1994) if they wanted to include it. Since it didn't make economic sense to them to include the TRUE original (most people could care less and wouldn't pay for the extra disc in the retail stores), they left it out.

Okay, now I'm mad , and I'm going to make my own The Lion King DVD from the LD Box Set in DD 5.1 with a DD 2.0 commentary track and any extras on the LD Box Set that are not on the Platinum DVD. I have a bunch of other transfers that I'm currently doing, but I'm going to do this eventually, since those redrawn crocodiles ARE NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINALS.

Is anyone aware if there is a COMPLETELY redrawn scene in the Beauty and the Beast "original" (as shown on IMAX) version on last year's Platinum DVD? I don't recall that anything on last year's BATB DVD was this jarringly revisionist when compared to the TRUE original cut.

All I know (have been told) on the Beauty and the Beast DVD are:

(1) When the Beast is attacked by the wolves and collapses into the snow, there is blood on his forearm (this is not in the original version)

(2) The chair disappears in the Gaston sequence (which I have been told does not in the original - but this could have been on the original film but fixed for the subsequent VHS and LD releases)

(3) The opening credits omit the Silver Screen Partners credit (not on the PAL discs!)

(4) The Colours are all wrong ("All Funny Colours"). Especially bad when items/characters are supposed to be in shadow.

Of course, the whole soundtrack is different and remixed :(

Hey "Chernobog"! Did you have to pick a nickname that is so close to "Chernabog"? AFAICT, "Chernabog" had his nickname almost a full month before you chose yours. Up until this thread was started, I assumed that the two of you were one and the same! Yikes!

This place would be mass hysteria if someone new to this forum chose "2098net," "MickeyMouseBoy," "Lomis," or (God forbid!) "The_Lizard_King." Ouch... talk about confusion.

I can live with this as long as the original cel animation isn't TOTALLY redrawn (like the crocodile cels on The Lion King)
2099net wrote:(2) The chair disappears in the Gaston sequence (which I have been told does not in the original - but this could have been on the original film but fixed for the subsequent VHS and LD releases)
I will check this out. Again, this isn't HUGE, since the scene is not completely redrawn.
2099net wrote:(3) The opening credits omit the Silver Screen Partners credit (not on the PAL discs!)
I'm not too concerned about this...
2099net wrote:(4) The Colours are all wrong ("All Funny Colours"). Especially bad when items/characters are supposed to be in shadow.
I humbly disagree with your assessment here. The colors are FABULOUS to behold on the BATB Platinum DVD.
2099net wrote:Of course, the whole soundtrack is different and remixed :(
Even on the "original" (as seen in IMAX theaters) seamlessly-branched cut of the Platinum DVD? If so, HOW?
