I usually complain about Region 2 releases, but I think the Rg.2 Beauty and the Beast is really a genuine good Rg.2.

Is the Rgn1 Platinum of Beauty simply in a black keepcase?
Beacause the Rg. 2 unfolds like an old storybook, with these lovely illustrations. It isn't even a keepcase, it's a 'fancy cardboard DVD holder'.

It's a 2 Disc Collector's Edition.

Maybe my friends over from the topic 'CAREFUL OF REGION 2 DVDs' can talk to me.

I don't own the R1 of BatB, but from what I remember it was in a double Amaray keepcase with a slipcase cover. The slipcase's front could also be opened. Overall quite nice, but the R2 digipack is, in the end, MUCH better looking.

France got a nice digipack too (as usual  ), with slightly different coverart... Like the R2UK the best though... and the bonusmaterial is sooo great too!! Only negtive thing is the transfer which is a bit too compressed for LCD TV's...

I own 3 editions of Beauty and the Beast: the French and UK collector's releases (as mentionned above, magnificent digipacks, both in the same spirit but slightly different from one another) and the US Region 1 release.

So, to anwser your question: as most of Disney's Region 1 and Special Edition releases, Beauty and the Beast comes in a cardboard slipcover "that opens like a book" to reveal the content on the 2 discs. It's a very nice presentation too. Inside the slipcase, you've got the classic black amaray DVD case. Another nice thing about this R1 edition (and that is a recurrent factor in Region 1): contraray to region 2's, you've got a really nice and informative DVD booklet inside the case. :)
