"If you did not answer Yes My Gatekeeper in time... you are banished... to the Black Hole." - The Gatekeeper
Anybody else remember playing the VHS Board Game Nightmare when you were little? You would pop in the VHS, and start a race against time... collecting Keys, startling other players... and of course, obeying The Gatekeeper.
Well, apparently The Gatekeeper came back recently. I was looking around at my local Suncoast the other day when I saw it, Atmosfear! Though the name of the game changed, I'm blessed by the company of my old friend The Gatekeeper... still making fun of my "silly" name and still more than ready to banish me to the Black Hole.
The new game comes with a DVD this time, which makes the game even better. You let it know which characters are being used, for example... Baron Samedi, the Zombie... and the Gatekeeper will now call you by name on occasion. A very nice touch. Another improvement is that with the old VHS, you eventually remembered when The Gatekeeper would appear... who The Gatekeeper would call... and what The Gatekeeper wanted. The move to DVD does away with the mundane. Now it's more or less random, when and if The Gatekeeper will show up. Is he here to reward you? Punish you? You have to watch to find out.
Anyway, I guess that's all I have to say. Anybody else play these games when you were little? Still play them?
