you need to put the dvd in and use a dvd program to play movies. Some of the older dvds come with one on them

Your Dell should come with some software to play DVDs. My friend ordered a Dell back in November and it came with the software to play DVDs. I forget what the software is called. Personally I have never used the software that some DVDs have. I usually use PowerDVD (came with my DVD drive) to play DVDs on the computer.

disneyboy. Is the dvd loading up by its self when you put it in and just going straight into the movie stuff as it would if you put it in a normal dvd player hooked up to a tv.

I think you'll have to define what you mean by DVD-ROM features. Are you trying to play a DVD with a movie on it? Or maybe features which require the interactual player (voice recording games and that)? Or is it a game on a DVD (Doom, Half-life 2, Battle 2, et cetera) or a data DVD, et cetera?
