Spring 2007 Platinum Edition: 101 Dalmatians?

A few weeks ago I went to the El Capitán theater to see a restored print of Lady And The Tramp. A friend of mine did some of the restoration work & got a screen credit for it (an additional end credits sequence was tagged on after "The End" for the restoration of the film). Anywho, I talk to her about the films and she said they've completed restoration for The Little Mermaid and had just finished restoring 101 Dalmatians. She said 101 Dalmatians had been the most tricky to restore cause of the style of the artwork (the color painted outside the borders). Now, since Little Mermaid is coming in October 2006, I suspect that 101 Dalmatians is coming in Spring 2007 since (as of right now) it's the only other animated feature that has been fully restored. I tried to get some more information out of her about future releases and aside from knowing 101 Dalmatians is now fully restored, and she said The Jungle Book is one of the films on the list for restoration, as well as Song Of The South! YES: SONG OF THE SOUTH! !! I'll try to get for information from her when I see her again.

If all of what you said was ture, and 101 Dalmatians does get released in Spring 2007 while The Jungle Book gets released in Fall 2007, all I can say is: I'M DISAPPOINTED!!!
While I can never say I have an "official" ranking of the 44 animated classics, I can say that "The Jungle Book" has always and will always be in my top 10 favorite animated classics! I just rewatched 101 Dalmatians after a long time, and to be honest, I found it really boring! If I were to rank the 10 Platinum movies, this would rank 9th place for me(only Cinderella beats it with it's crapiness).
But it is great to hear about SOTS though! I hope it comes in 2006 instead of 2007 though!

Yay! That means we could possibly get 101 Dalmatians even sooner than expected! I should have figured they'd keep The Jungle Book until last, seeing as it was Walt's last film. As for Song of the South. Yay!

That's so cool! I would love to learn how to restore old Disney films.

Actually, we'll probably be getting the Raven video of that.

I acquired SOTS unofficially and all I can say it is a great movie and that I'd definitively buy it on DVD. As for what is gonna come first in the Platinum Series, I really have no particular preferred order. I'd like to see Dumbo and Pinnochio in the list. Anyway I have the Limited Issues of all of them and Dumbo 60th Anniversary Ed. Bring 'em on.

I would prefer to get The Jungle Book first, simply because I've never seen it. Deep down though, I won't be too bothered which order they're released.

I still think The Jungle Book will be in March 2007 and 101 Dalmatians is going to be Oct 2007 since Disney wanted to releast TJB in 2009 and 101 Dalmatians in 2010.

Well this is how I see it:
Spring 2005: Fluffy animals (Bambi)
Fall 2005: Princess (Cinderella)
Spring 2006: Fluffy Animals (Lady and the Tramp)
Fall 2006: Princess (Little Mermaid)
Spring 2007: Fluffy Animals (101 Dalmations)
Fall 2007: Prince of the Jungle (Jungle Book)
Ok, I fixed the dates Escapay.

You're a year early on all of them, lol.
Anyways, if it's true that they're switching The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians, I'm all for it. I never understood why it was Jungle Book then 101 Dalmatians, and I prefer 101 Dalmatians over Jungle Book anyway.

Yeah, I completely agree. Even though I liked 101 Dalmatians more, I didn't understand why it was last. As I have stated, Jungle Book is fitting for last as it was Walt's last.

Very good to hear this news. 101 Dalmations and Song of the South for 2007! Can't wait to hear more news about this.
I like it that they're saving TJB for last, because... well, I used to like it when I was a kid but I don't really care for it now, because the story is thin and the songs are weak. 101 Dalmations, on contrary, has held up better with repeat viewings. (Maybe we'll get a re-release of the two live-action films on the the same date or after the PE comes out.)

This is good news.
101 Dalmatians is one of my all-time favorite animated classics! The art sytle is very unique - it's beautiful.

There's a way we can figure out which one is coming first. For those of you who already have the
Lady & the Tramp Platinum DVD (whether it's a review copy or one found early in stores), the DVD guide always has a page that talks about the Platinum Editions. It also lists the next two in line. So, all we have to do is get someone who has it to look there and find out which one it says will be released in Spring 2007.
It's like I was....hit....with a......smoldering.....bag of.....intelligence!
Now, I must be going.

The next time that you see her please ask her about Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

why be disappointed? this only means that The Jungle Book will most likely get a box set now, and 101 Dalmatians wont. so in a way, if you like it better... wont it be worth the wait? unless you don't like the box sets. which i can understand because i've never gotten any of them either, lol.
I think it's exciting just to have an idea of what's coming. And i think that the news for SOTS is the best news here! YAY FOR GROWING UP!!!

well that wasn't so hard to figure out. Jungle Book is more worthy of a Box set and only the fall releases have received box sets.

Ooo, I like what azul mentioned about releasing the two live action films on dvd. They could use Special Editions. And as much as I think 101 Dalmatians deserves a box set, I can't see them doing as good a job on it as they could with The Jungle Book.
Oh, and by the way, it's 101 Dalmatians... the spelling of it on here is constantly wrong.

I count only two instances in this thread! Unless of course, you're talking about UD in general, then yeah, it's constantly wrong!

Hehe, thanks! Though I'm sure many others would've preferred if all these DVDs came a year early!
