Yuck! Did anyone see the cover art for the fifth season? Those colors don't go together at all.

orange and blue typically play off each other, so I think it looks okay, and will fit in nicely with the other dvd's.

Can't wait to own it :)

While I'm excited about the quicker than expected release, I pray to God that they will change that ugly cover. Okay, the orange could work, but that terrible blueish green, in the picture....As Edna would say, "Yiiiiiickkkk!"

Wow, that's gotta be the tackiest DVD cover I've ever seen, or at least ONE of the tackiest. Figures that the season that finally gets commentaries is the season that gets the worst cover art. I hope they modify this straight away, but I somehow doubt that...

People are worried about the cover being tacky?

This the fabulous Golden Girls we're talking about...

they're the queens of tacky!

That cover is hideous. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like it.
If I let cover art influence my buying, I would be leaving this one at the store.

I don't know, I don't think it's that terrible. The colors and the star make it look very '80s/early '90s, but on the other hand, I'm very happy to see an ensemble shot. Looking at it side by side with the others, though, I do think it looks a little tackier. Maybe if they turned down the volume a little.

But who cares? Commentaries! Hooray! (Too bad S4 will miss out :()

The cover completely evokes the time period of the show. The late 80s was responsible for many of the greatest fashion crimes, and as pointed out by Joan Rivers in the S1 boxset, "The Golden Girls" featured quite a few of them...

...but that's one of the reasons why we love them, isn't it?

Bright and garish colours perfectly suit the sunny Miami atmosphere of the show.

Finally. Better late than never, I guess. Now, can we have them release the first four seasons with commentaries?

It's about time we got some substance in these releases. I'm glad they were able to get all three surviving cast members to record commentaries (even if they're not together). I think Disney started the meaty features with season five because they probably consider the Lifetime Intimate Portrait DVD sufficient enough to cover 1-4 (like instead of putting one special on each season set, they just waited till after season four to put all the specials on a disc from WB). I'd like to see some other special features on upcoming seasons such as documentaries, bloopers, and specials.

Yay-a press release and some confirmation! So if Betty White was recording commentaries for her 2 episodes, then I would assume the same is true for Bea and Rue. That means either 6 individual commentary tracks, or at least some tracks featuring two or more of them together. Hooray! If they can keep this up with Seasons 6 & 7, and throw in some other bonus materials like the ones DK listed above, then they'll finally have fans giving them a  . They'll never fully make up for the poor handling of the first four seasons, though.

YES! Commentaries by Rue and Bea! :D

I'm glad they finally got the special features part right. The only other worthwhile bonus feature was the trivia game, except I didn't like the host of that game. :P

Estelle Getty is still alive. She's actually the same age as Bea Arthur. Betty White is a year older than both of them, and Rue is about 10 years younger. Unfortunately she's not well, and has been suffering from dementia for some time.

Be cautious, like I said at the forum, I find it unlikely anybody got the DVD yet.
