First of all, hi everyone. This is my first post.
Under 'Different Types of Releases', it says in May 2003 Disney announced that they would be adding Sleeping Beauty, among others to their 'Platinum Collection'. Is this still true or should I go ahead and buy the current 'Special Edition'?

Welcome to the boards, Starry!
Just buy the Special Edition now, because honestly, none of us understands what they meant by "adding
Sleeping Beauty to their Platinum release schedule", so close to the release of the Special Edition. They
did change the cover art, but instead of labeling it a Platinum, the top banner only stated it was a "2-Disc Set". How much more generic can you get?
So whether they release
another edition of SB a couple years down the road remains to be seen. It'd be a pretty stupid move, imo. So assume nothing, and get the Special Edition now. That set is definitely worth it, in any case. You'll collapse from shock after seeing the magnificence of SB in its original
widescreen format!!

nod i can understand your reluctance to buy the current "special edition". i feel the same way about the current dvd of Peter Pan that is out. While it is a "special edition", it is only 1 disc and now that they have added Peter Pan to their platinum list, I'm very reluctant to get it.
i would still purchase the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition DVD, however, because it is likely that they will not be releasing the platinum version for a good seven years. Plus, as many others have mentioned in reviews, the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition is as good as any platinum release.

Thanks for the comments. You've convinced me to buy the DVD. By the way, I borrowed 'Holes' from a friend today. What a great movie!
