I made a decision that my mom and my stepdad are moving down to Florida in a couple of years because they going to live in near Coconut Creek, FL. I hope a few years from now, I would like to live near Disney World in Florida. It's going to live near 10 minutes or maybe 5 minutes near Disney World. I lived in New York for 17 years, but I would like to find a place to live. I've been to Disney World for 12 years since my mom and my stepdad went there since 1994 when I was 15 years old. I have pics from our first trip to Disney World on that thread. I hope I would look forward to it if I could save my money to find a new home near Disney World. Comments?

I remember watching something years ago about houses near Disney World, i'm not sure if i remember it right, but is there some code where you have to keep your garden looking pristine and to apply some 'disney magic' touch to the neighbourhood.
Or maybe I made this up....
Sounds cool, I've never been to a Disney resort, or America, so I guess my opinion won't be too valid, but will living so near to Disney World lose some of its appeal?

you're thinking of Celebration, a master planned community right by Lake Buena Vista

As jwa1107 said, that is Celebration. I saw that on a "Disney is evil" documentary two years ago (at the height of the Save Disney campaign), and honestly, I almost got put off Disney altogether just by hearing about that disturbing place. And the things that the Celebrationan family being interviewed were wearing...they looked like clowns!

Anyone here visited Celebration? (Sorry if I'm steering the thread off course). I'm not sure how much there is to be seen, but I'm quite interested in it. I never seem to be able to squeeze it into a vacation, though.

Celebration is a cute little village that USED to be owned by Disney. It's owned by the state of Florida now.
I used to go there all the time for the movie theater (which is beautiful) & shopping & barneys coffee shop..
It's ritzy there. The cheapest apartment is like $800 a month.
It's just a very expensive village.
The people who live there make it what it is...
It's like Pleasantville...but snobbier. Some of the gift stores wont let u in if u are under 16 & not w/ an adult. It's just upperclass.
Some of the surrounding gated retirement communities outside of Celebration in Kissimee & St. CLoud (I have a friend whose parents live in one of these places) have strict rules about keeping the gardens clean, or the drive-ports crack free, no weeds growing, trim lawns, no parking on the streets-ect...but Celebration doesnt even have rules like these.
If u are ever in O-town area, its def a good way to spend an afternoon just walking the shops & restaurants & town of Celebration.
dont always believe the media-seeing is believing.

We drove through Celebration once and at the time (I was in high school), I thought it would be pretty much the coolest place to live. Actually, $800/month for an apartment there sounds suprisingly reasonable, although I'm sure it's a tiny one and most of the utilities are probably separate. Even so, it would be an interesting place to live, albeit not exactly my style.

I'd love to see Celebration. I just heard that houses have gone up 300% in value over the last five years

Holy cow!!
There are a bunch of gated communities around Orlando too. My mom's friend just moved to a small town that's on the way to Orlando from Tampa (it's not far out of Orlando) and loves it there... I wish I could remember what it was called though!!
Edited to add: I live in an apartment and $800/month is INCREDIBLY reasonable. Esp for a place like that- if that really is the cheapest apt.

I just went to the Celebration website to see how Stepford it really was... and from all accounts it looks like it's still part of the Walt Disney Company (although I swear I had heard otherwise, besides on this thread).
Lexin Capital bought Market Street in 2004 from the Celebration Company, which is part of the Walt Disney Company which includes a lot of commercial space, restaurants and apartments but it doesn't say anything about selling the rest of it. And the entire website is still copywrited by Disney.

I just trying to search it on Google that I can find houses that is for sale 3 miles from Disney because my mom is moving to Florida in the next two years including me because I love Disney World because I've been there for 12 years. If this house should be a vacation home or maybe a rent, or maybe if it's for sale. Will see.
I've been living in New York for 18 years because of a move from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn where I came from since I was born there. I'm going to miss New York in the next two years before moving to Florida. By the way, Disney World is much better than Brooklyn which was my hometown.
