this movie seems too much like Madagascar to even be real. i really hate how the studio's rip off of each other.

it's really sickening! Not to say that they all aren't great movies, i do in fact like them all and the ideas of them all but i can't help but roll my eyes.

I think this movie looks good I will def go see it. Plus I love Kiefer Sutherland.

This topic isn't about Dreamworks vs. Disney and Pixar. Its about the discussion about the film. This film may look identical to Dreamworks's Madadascar, but it has reality and emotion. The jokes, however, still look like Madadascar-esque.

I don't see the point of ripping off someone's films but I remember when Disney ripped off Don Bluth's The Land Before Time, then created "Dinosaur". That Don Bluth film isn't even a disney film, but it is made from Universal Studios.

Aside of that, the trailer looks promising!

i wasn't saying that it was going to be a bad movie. the heart and story behind it seems just fine. it's just weird to me that they are so similar. you could have the same story in the san diego zoo or some other zoo in some other city. just kinda silly to me to know that you are creating something so similar to someone else. i'll prolly go see it anyway though, lol

Well, I'm glad to say, that "The Wild" isn't made by any of those three companies!

"The Wild" was made by an Independant Animation studio and it's being distributed by Disney, but that's it. Saying this is a Disney movie is like saying, "The Brave Little Toaster" or "Valiant" are Disney movies, but they're made by somebody else.

As for the film, I gotta pass on this as well. It looks like a Madagascar version of Finding Nemo.

This film just has the word "bomb" written all over it.

Actually, the thing with the Wild is a little different than with Valiant inthe sense that there's more than distribution involved.

For instance "Valiant" had nothing to do with Disney in Europe, while Madaga.. i mean... while "The Wild" is treated almost as in house made picture company wide - that includes disney consumer products developing a merchandise line and having the Walt Disney Pictures Presents banner all over the world.

I'm not 100% sure on this but i think The Wild was almost comissioned by Disney, or at least they've been involved with the production since the beginning. "Valiant" was made and released independantly in the UK and when they needed a distributor for it in the States they contacted BV.

I think they contacted BV long before production began, and it was because they had an American distributer which was so well regarded, that they actually completed their other funding. As a result, Disney got the US distribution rights for next to nothing. So even with the low box office takings, Disney did OK out of the deal (as did Vanguard who probably wouldn't have got their funding to actually make the film in the first place otherwise).

As for The Wild, I think is a Core Studios production, which is (part?)owned by William Shatner (The Shats as we call him). Which is odd, considering the Shats is a voice in Over the Hedge for Dreamworks.

he's also voicing in "The Wild". maybe he's gonna try to make a jump into the animation world. I can totally see Star Trek: Venture Into ToonTown. Of course that would be CG.
