SOTS Soundtrack on BasicHip

Yesterday, I looked up on BasicHip's website that I saw a soundtrack to Disney's "Song of the South". The album has 8 songs made especially for the film. It features a classic "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah", "Uncle Remus Said", "How Do You Do", "Everybody's Got A Laughing Place", "All I Want", and the title song. This LP was on the Disneyland label and it's definitely become a rare collector's item. Sadly the film was not released on any format for example a VHS and DVD in the US alone, elsewhere in other countries has the SOTS movie. You might listen to this whole album, it's in this week's BasicHip's "Album of the Week". Here is the link and see if you can find the SOTS soundtrack album.

I've got the film to compare it to, but right now I'm doing the tracks by memory, mainly the songs and not the scores... Hopefully I'll have the rest finished tomorrow. Otherwise, this is an incomplete description:

If you haven't seen the film (which will likely be the case with most of us), there are some slight spoilers below...

Track 1:
0:00:00 to 0:01:52 - "Song of the South" title song (by chorus) and prologue score
0:01:52 to 0:04:18 - Score during The Carriage Ride/Miss Doshy's House

Track 2:
0:00:00 to 0:00:24 - Score when Johnny is running away
0:00:24 to 0:01:48 - "Uncle Remus Said" song (by chorus)
0:01:48 to 0:03:09 - Score when Uncle Remus is with Johnny
0:03:09 to 0:05:09 - "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" song (by Uncle Remus)
0:05:10 to 0:06:16 - Score when Br'er Rabbit runs away and gets caught in the trap

Track 3:
0:00:00 to 0:02:32 - Score when Ginny gives Johnny the dog (Teenchy) and they go for a boat ride
0:02:32 to 0:03:07 - "Who Wants to Live Like That?" song (by Uncle Remus)
0:03:07 to 0:04:57 - Score when Johnny asks Uncle Remus to take care of Teenchy
0:04:57 to 0:06:05 - "Let the Rain Pour Down" song (by chorus)

Track 4:
0:00:00 to 0:02:02 - "How Do You Do" song (by chorus, Br'er Rabbit, and Uncle Remus)
0:02:02 to 0:02:43 - Score when Uncle Remus and Br'er Frog are fishing and having a smoke.

Track 5:
0:00:00 to 0:01:15 - (Thanks Cnjp) Score when Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear are fighting over the fate of Brer Rabbit and, in desperation, Brer Fox flings Brer Rabbit into the briar patch. It continues through Brer Rabbit's muffled laughing, faking of agony and then proud declaration of being "born and bred in a briar patch". It concludes with Brer Fox's bewilderment and then unconsciousness, provided by Brer Bear.

Track 6:
0:00:00 to 0:01:42 - "Sooner or Later" song (by Aunt Tempy)
0:01:42 to 0:02:28 - Score during Johnny's birthday party and when Br'er Rabbit is laughing over the spitfire.
0:02:28 to 0:03:29 - "Ev'rybody Has a Laughin' Place" song (by Br'ers Rabbit and Bear)

Track 7:
0:00:00 to 0:01:13 - "Let the Rain Pour Down (Reprise)" song (by chorus)
0:01:13 to 0:04:56 - Score when Toby finds out Uncle Remus decides to leave, Ginny goes to meet her parents, Johnny visits Uncle Remus (his laughin' place), and the climactic moment when he's run over by the bull.

Track 8:
0:00:00 to 0:02:45 - "All I Want" song (by chorus)
0:02:45 to 0:03:56 - Score when Johnny recovers and sees his father, who decides to stay with the family.
0:03:56 to 0:06:42 - "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Reprise)" finale song (by Johnny, Ginny, Toby, Uncle Remus, and chorus).

ETA: Updated to include the scores (where "fill in later" was).

That (mostly) instrumental track starts at the point where Brer Fox and Brer Bear are fighting over the fate of Brer Rabbit and, in desperation, Brer Fox flings Brer Rabbit into the briar patch. It continues through Brer Rabbit's muffled laughing, faking of agony and then proud declaration of being "born and bred in a briar patch". It concludes with Brer Fox's bewilderment and then unconsciousness, provided by Brer Bear.

Hope this helps! :)

is there anyway you can make it like the song and the score in a different MP3? :)

If you had some kind of audio editing program, you could split the mp3's at the time markers I indicated. But to split the actual audio as separate vocal and instrumental tracks...I have no idea how to do that.

It's really easy to do that. :)

I use Audacity all the time to edit and make my own MP3's.
It's a great tool! You can upload an MP3, Wav files.

I saved all of my songs and ended up burning it on a CD. the soundtrack of "Song of the South" is so hard to find. There was also a 1959 LP from Disneyland under the title "Uncle Remus". Same songs as featured on that site. I think the front and back cover of the album looks good.

Thanks for the link, musicradio77. I just finished downloading the tracks. I've got that record picture above. The cover and record of my copy still look like new. I enjoy listening to it, but not often for fear of scratching the record.

Thanks for the link. Song of the South does have very nice melodies, and I'm happy to hear portions of the score for the first time. :)

I can't find the MP3's, or this album listed on the site anywhere. I see it in their forums, but nowhere else. Have they been taken down?

Must've been a Sunday to Sunday week since they're no longer there. :( :( I'm sure they'll come up again...if they're done by popular demand.

Does anybody have them along with the cover art? I could set up an FTP site if someone would be so generous. Thanks.

I saved all 8 tracks when this thread was originally created. PM me.

Well I couldn't exactly figure out the FTP that MikeyMouse set up for me (and didn't want to burden myself with downloading a program just for this one thing), so I figured it'd be easier to put the 8 tracks in a zipped folder, which can be downloaded from here:

http://s57.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3NY5 ... 5H6LMZDKR2

It's about 30 MB for all 8 tracks, so depending on your speed, may take some time. The link is good for 7 days, then it goes dead, so everyone's got a week to download it. If they want, I can upload it again after a week.

Thanks, Escapay! Sorry the FTP thing didn't work out for you. Now, if anyone downloaded the cover art, I'd love to get a look at that, too. Anyone?
