Renting DVDs that carry an SRP of $9.99? You'd be better to buy and re-sell if you don't like it, which I can assure you wouldn't be the case.

I'd rather have box sets, of course, but I still plan on getting all three. The only bad thing about $9.99 SRPs is that it's tough to find any store that discounts them at all! They don't really require a discount, but $2.50 an episode (plus tax) is much more than you'd pay via a box set.

Well you have the "Ghostbusters Double Gift Set" right Pals? Just put on Ghostbusters 2 and you'll be able to judge it for yourself with 2 episodes of "The Real Ghostbusters" man, okay!

You know something? I have to say, I can't imagine anyone buying this discs for just 12 episodes, and paying nearly $30! I hear people keep saying that studios do this to see what kind of support is out for buying a whole season... Well, how much support could there be after the studio steals $30 for episodes not included in a season set????!!!!!!!! People are 'okay' with this, in any sense? Sony needs to either cough up the seasons or stop wasting our time.

Though I'm not a huge fan of the series, I still think what they're doing is absolute b.s. and really, really dirty / unfair to consumers, who have done nothing but support them through their countless mistakes.

Time Life has announced that the 5 separate DVD cases inside the firehouse package of their upcoming The Real Ghostbusters - The Complete Series DVD release will be SteelBook™ cases! These cases are coveted by collectors for their sturdy metal construction, and attractive finishing. We confirmed with SteelBook™ that this is the largest set to utilize SteelBook™ cases. They've had some multi-set releases in the past, but never a set that uses 5 cases in one package. No doubt, this announcement will have SteelBook™ fans drooling. We'll post artwork for the inner cases (and the finalized outer "firehouse" package) when it's available, though it won't quite do the product justice.

Time Life has also released the list of commentary track participants, which we've provided below. The Time Life exclusive, available only through TimeLife.com, is expected to ship in mid-November. Other details about this release are available in the press release.

I just watched one of those 3 standalone Sony DVDs a couple of nights ago. Took me over two years since buying them. Great show. Looking forward to the video game too, which is something I very rarely say.

I'm always glad to hear of a possible season/series set, instead of discs with random episodes.

I don't know if I saw a lot of this show, but I am a Ghostbusters fan.

I Have never bought from either website before until these purchases and I just got off the phone with Time-Life and apparently they said the farthest they ship outside the USA is Canada....now the guy at Time Life did say if you could find someone to order it for you then they could ship it to you that would probably work...

On the other hand I did post this a post or two ago...

Also if you don't want the whole series via this Time Life there will be a season by season set release that is going Retail Starting Jan. 20th 2009. It will include the first 30 episodes of the series retailing for around $40

And the retail will be available January 20th via amazon the only set back is it's not a big collector's set

Also I just picked up the Fraggle Rock Complete Series 2 days ago and was disappointed that the All New Exclusive Fraggle Short starring Red Fraggle was cut from the box set as it was no where to be on any of the discs that I am aware of though....but at least it has season 4...

What you gonna buy? The Real Ghostbusters vol. 1. Retail Ed.

Back in October, in one of our updates about Time Life's direct-only release of The Real Ghostbusters - The Complete Series on DVD, we mentioned a separate retailer release of The Real Ghostbusters - Volume 1 was coming. Some online retailers, such as Walmart.com, had begun listing a January 20th retail release of the separate package, but Time Life had not generally announced that yet, and hadn't solicited the title to the entire range of retailers yet, either.

Now the word seems to be getting around to more retailers, including Amazon, who set up a pre-order listing this past Saturday for The Real Ghostbusters - Volume 1. Our sincere thanks to all of our readers who wrote in to make sure we had seen it, including Kate Wagner (whose e-mail arrived first).

The Amazon listing shows a different release date, of January 27th, and we've confirmed that this is the correct one (not the twentieth). List price is $39.98 for a 5-disc set that contains the first 30 episodes (780 minutes), plus extras that - as we previously reported - include a booklet, episode introductions, 5 on-camera commentaries and a featurette.

We had also previously said that the separate retail release would not come enclosed in the SteelBook packaging, but now we've been informed that it will. In fact, the package art at Amazon and other retailers shows the SteelBook (see above).

Of course, the biggest fans of the show probably want the better value, the exclusive "firehouse" set for The Real Ghostbusters - The Complete Series, which is available right now directly from Time Life, with all 5 volumes packaged together in SteelBooks and enclosed in a collectible package. My copy was supposed to be waiting for me under the tree, but I couldn't hold off and I'm already enjoying it!

I figured this deserved a differ thread of its own

Anyway It will be a 5-disc set with the first 30 episodes in the series retailing around $40 srp and it will include Steelbook packaging...and it comes to stored January 27th 2009

This gives me lots of time to save up money for this. Although I do wish it was coming out closer to the middle of January instead of the end :(

So the episodes on this would be (if Epguides is correct):

Ghosts 'R Us
Killerwatt
Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood
Slimer, Come Home
Troll Bridge
The Boogieman Cometh
Mr. Sandman, Dream Me a Dream
When Halloween Was Forever
Look Homeward, Ray
Take Two
Citizen Ghost
Janine's Genie
Xmas Marks the Spot
Janine's Day Off
Adventures in Slime and Space
Ragnarok and Roll
Captain Steel Saves the Day
They Call Me MISTER Slimer
Buster the Ghost
Night Game
Rollerghoster
Who're You Calling Two-Dimensional?
Dairy Farm
Egon's Ghost
Janine Melnitz, Ghostbuster
The Cabinet of Calamari
Ghostbuster of the Year
Egon's Dragon
No One Comes to Lupusville
The Bird of Kildarby

The ones in Bold are ones that I actually remember. Although I do remember other episodes I just have no idea what the title of them was. For example I remember

- The one with the Pirates who fly their ship through New York streets
- The ghosts who terrorize college and want to graduate
- The Ghostbusters go to Scotland and use garabage trucks to catch ghosts
- The large red guy who fights a godzilla type monster in Central Park
- A large red monster who scares ghosts/eats them?
- The one where they go camping and find bigfoot
- The one where Egon turns into a large blue monster
- The one where Slimer is kidnapped
- The one where t.v show characters come out of the t.v sets
- The one where ghosts are haunting the movie set
- The one where animals talk and take over

Pretty sure there's a couple others...yeah I know my memory sucks :P
