Last year the residue left on the tin after i took of the card on the back peeled right off! Also those security stickers that go across the top and side of the DVDs left the most insane amount of residue i have ever known!

It's literally taken me over an hour to get it all off, in the end I had to soak them in hot water with a super strength bathroom oxy gel dirt remover!

Ichabod, just a little q-tip and some finger-nail polish remover takes care of all that. Saves the sweat and elbow grease. Easiest thing I have found that works.

You might also try a product called Goo Gone. Works wonders on getting stickers from CDs and DVDs off without dissolving the plastic or metal.

I tried the finger nail polish remover trick, that's what I sometimes do, that did nothing, it just made it worse in fact, it made a white sort of goo that just spread all over the place. I import a lot of R1 DVDs and I've never seen the residue this bad!

It was like some kind of Uber-glue that wants to take control of the planet!

So I am not the only one who had this trouble?! I almost went crazy trying to remove the residue of the glue left from those stickers! No kidding, I spent two hours trying to remove the darn thing, and I'm only talking about two of the tins!! I also had to wash them up and still it didn't come out 100%!

Something else... is it just in my player or do the cartoons took longer than usually to start playing?

Oh my, everything seems to be going wrong with this wave!

OK. I've tried nail polish remover and all it seems to do was spread the stickiness around and discolor the tin.

What else should I try?

Go buy some Goo Gone. Works like a charm.

Great suggestion Dave. I forgot all about "Goo-Gone", that's stuff is a miracle worker. Great suggestion!!

There are like 14 different "Goo Gone" products. Could you be a little more specific?

Failing that (because it isn't sold here I believe), surgical spirit worked wonders.

Is that akin to theatrical Spirit Gum remover? I've got that.

Other options include rubbing alcohol, Thoro Spot Remover, or lighter fluid. At least your only talking about removing the goo from metal tins and not something that might be ruined by the cleaners. I once tried to remove the leftover goo from a sticker on a slipcover and the nail polish remover I was using took off the the ink too leaving a big nasty white spot. It would take a hard-core industrial-strength acid to do damage to the metal tins. Although I would be careful around the decal.

meh. I've decided it's not worth dealing with.

Throw the tin away and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

15 Practical uses for WDT Tins:
1. Ashtray
2. Really Big Coaster
3. Have a blast watching an elderly try and open it (like prescription bottles)
4. Line it with velvet and use it as a jewelrybox.
5. Very small toiletries carrying case for trips. Just fit a small tube of toothpaste, a toothbrush, some q-tips, hotel soap and shampoo, and a razor in there! (and do dry shaves to save on shaving cream!)
6. Beat your younger sibling on the head with it.
7. Use it to hide pornographic DVDs (at least until your cousin borrows it without telling you and suddenly finds Young and Innocent 37 instead of On The Front Lines!)
8. Fill it with money and put it under your bed.
9. Use it when you gotta smuggle bootleg DVDs ("What's in this tin, officer? Oh, just my copy of Mickey Mouse in Black and White, just like it says on the box! You won't find a poorly videotaped copy of The Chronicles of Narnia in here!").
10. Target Practice with your Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle.
11. A lunchbox for your 7 year old kid who wants a cool lunchbox instead of those ugly plastic things or plain paper bags. They'll fit one sandwich and two cookies, but you won't be able to fit a drink in there, though, unless you pack them tang in a small bag and tell them to gargle it with water.
12. Deliver your ransom notes in style! Pack it in an envelope, within another envelope, within another envelope, etc. and put the thing in the tin and drive the parents of the kidnapped millionaire child crazy!
13. Sell it on e-bay to tin freaks for $500.
14. Melt it down and make pellets to slingshot at the damn kids who throw rocks at your house and call you "Old Man Busybody".
15. See if you can sell just the tin at GameStop, who takes anything anyway.

Escapay

I am yet to try it, but you could also try cooking oil (sunflower, olive, et cetera). I could've saved the plastic cover on my Lion King Album 10 years ago if I knew there were better alternatives than a knife (or something similar). Lucky the plastic covers are easy to replace, the Sony CD-Rs front (door whatever) are identical to most of the Disney ones.

I use rubbing alcohol to get all those sticky stickers that's why I prefer to get my DVD's at Costco because they don't put the sticker on the DVD.
