If I haven't said it before, welcome to the site Woody! :)

It's times like these I wish I pre-ordered over the web. But I usually get DVDs cheaper than Amazon at one of my local stores on the first day of release.

In spite of the venom I've been spewing at Disney giving us a slightly-above-mediocre DVD of my favorite film, after waiting 6 1/2 years to debut on the format...I'm going to be getting the Gift Set on 10/7. Maybe 10/6 actually - there's a store I know that is okay with breaking street dates, even on major titles...so if the price is reasonable and they have the Gift Set (two big IFs), I might get it a day early. Of course, we've all waited years for this. But I'm not sure if that means waiting a few more days should be nothing...or the wait MUST end, gotta have it ASAP.

Hey Luke, do you know how many pages the book in the giftset is? I've been looking around for the figure, but I'm not sure anyone knows yet.

No, I don't know yet. For some reason, "64" comes to mind, but I might just be making that up. (NCAA office pool flashback?)

That's great Woody! DisneyStore.com says that they will begin shipping the DVDs on October 7. I think everyone will receive their copy before I do. :)

Someone's already had their Gift Set ship from Amazon.com. Lucky!

Does DisneyStore.com e-mail the UPS tracking numbers when an order is shipped? My brother is wondering if DisneyStore.com has shipped our order of The Lion King DVD yet. If not, then I'll tell him to search for an order by order Number. I hope he still has the order number.

You can pre-order Collector's Gift Set from Walmart.com. They might have it in stores. :)

Visit your local Wal-Mart Photo Center on October 11th to get a complimentary photo taken with a life-size cutout of characters from The Lion King.

I was expect around 100 pages, but 160 is damn good. Can't wait to read it.

Enjoy your early-arrival of the box-set! Make sure to give us your input on the DVD after watching it.

That's awesome. If I was patient, I would have just ordered from Amazon, but they've been taking longer and longer to ship lately.

The negative side is that BestBuy is going to have the Gift Set priced very unattractively at $39.99 (well over double the price of just the Platinum release which is $15.99). Plus there's a free calendar and mousepad for Lion King, but I doubt you get those if you get the Gift Set. Ugh. If it got the same kind of discount the Platinum got, it'd be under $30. Maybe some store will be wise and undercut the competition. Circuit City, please?

And I'd love a Lion King calendar, too, but I imagine it would be cheap like my Back to the Future wristwatch from Best Buy.

Although Best Buy lists $39.99 as the price on their site now, they usually lower it by the week it comes out. And I'd bet you can get the free stuff with the gift set too - at least at my local Best Buy they aren't strict with that type of stuff.

Yay!
I just checked Amazon and I'm told "We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed".

So mine should be posted in the next day or so (a week ahead of schedule!).

Very cool - and here I thought everyone was getting theirs way before me...

That's cool Loomis. :) I don't know when DisneyStore.com will ship my copy. I think everyone will get their copy before I do.

You'd think that, but I'm told that's what it is listed at in next week's circular.

:o Thats a first, as far as I know.

Circuit City will probably have it a few bucks cheaper (hopefully  ) And we'll be able to have BB price match it.
