ABC-TV Airs 'The Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade' Featuring Regis, Kelly and a Sleighful of Fun

http://www.mickeynews.com/News/DisplayP ... 1275Parade

A Dec. 25 tradition, The Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade again brings the magic of Walt Disney World Resort at holidaytime into the homes of millions of ABC-TV viewers. Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa host the festivities, which feature a variety of celebrity appearances and musical performances.

Front and center is the parade itself, which showcases favorite Disney characters as it makes its way down Main Street, U.S.A. This year's program will feature parade elements from both Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland in California -- a fitting tribute during the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" honoring 50 years of Disney parks that began with the opening of Disneyland.

The Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade airs Dec. 25, 10 a.m.-Noon Eastern time on ABC-TV.

Our ABC affiliate for some reason decided not to air this today for the first time as far as I can remember. I promptly sent an email of complaint.

Sure you didn't just miss it? It was on at 7-9 AM around here. Not sure why it would be on that early when most people are either asleep, at church, or opening presents. I didn't see it, in any event.

Well it ended up coming on this evening, but carried by our local Fox affiliate since ABC didn't air it. I got to catch the last 45 minutes or so, which was quite enjoyable.

I'm glad you caught some of it, Aaron. I called my grandma last night to see if she could tape it this morning (having a T.V. which only plays NBC and a little UPN), but as it turns out my mom got a really bad case of the flu so Christmas has been postponed until next week. :( In any case, I'm hoping she both had a blank tape handy and remembered. I do enjoy the parade broadcasts, even though they are mainly over-long advertisements for the parks. I wish they still aired the Easter parade too.

Hey, Luke maybe it was shown early because of the two NBA Games Lakers @ Heats and Spurs @ Pistons.

Well I saw part of it!

I didn't get to see the whole thing though! I keep missing it every year for some sad reason. I haven't seen the whole thing since 2002! Oh well, it was still nice to see part of it! :)

Too bad it was filled with celebrities I never heard off!

Well it wasnt on ABC here...
But it was on CBC TV (Canadian channel)
Thank goodness for that channel, otherwise I woulda missed it this year!!

I wish they would show Candlelight on Xmas Eve & parade on xmas day-this way it'll break up the more "giant commercialism" for the resorts & parks that takes up like 80% of the air time.

I've never seen it. I'll check it on my DVR when I come back after my home visit.

All you people are very lucky. It didn't show at all where I'm from. And I checked the local TV guide that we get in the newspaper and all that was playing was the local church services. They never show the parade on a Sunday here.

They showed it from 10 AM - Noon in my area. They usually run it that time every year here.

Is it too late for you to be my new best friend? :D

Only that it is HIGHLY illegal (wink), I'd love to see copies of those. We'd never get them screened here...

I just came back from vacation and I'm watching "Disney World's Christmas Parade". This is much better than the Macy's Parade back on Thanksgiving. They have the Disney Princess, Mickey & friends and of course The Cheetah Girls sing "Cheetah-licious Christmas" from their new Christmas CD. I have that CD since I was using iTunes, I put loads of holiday songs by the Cheetah Girls along with songs by other artists that were classics. Regis After that, came Wayne Brady and Kimberly Clarke along with Jim Brickman singing "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Beautiful" both were featured on the "Cinderella" Special Edition CD re-release. They had parades and floats from Disneyland and other theme parks that are part of the 50th anniversary in 2005. But as of right now, 2006 is going to be the 50th anniversary of Disney music on records. I made an avatar in honor of its 50 years since it first Disney label started in 1956 owned by Walt and co-founder Tutti Camarata. It was a blast.

You can watch a behind-the-scenes video (hosted by Regis & Kelly) on the parade here: http://disney.go.com/disneymotion/showcase/index.html (along with an assortment of other videos).
