I don't know, but according to what that Don Hahn interview and Dvdfile.com, it took two years to create the Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King DVD. If they are spending two years on each DVD and if The Little Mermaid really is coming out October of 2005, then production for The Little Mermaid is just starting.

The Little Mermaid is a tricky one, as it has no LD set to get materials from.

Ignoring the "family" features that are bound to infest both discs, I hope some of the following are included:

* Hans Christian Anderson's Original Fairytale
* Early Presentation Concepts and Reel
* Full Documentry covering the following (either whole or in segments)
* * Concept
* * Adapting the Fairytale
* * Design
* * Casting
* * Animation
* * Marketing
* * Reactions
* The Standard Galleries
* The Standard Pencil Tests/Multi-Angle Progression Footage
* The Standard Voice Artist Footage
* Tribute to Buddy Hackett
* Trailers, Posters (and Home Video Art) Covers
* Arial's Grotto at Disneyland featurette
* Information on The Little Mermaid Animated Series and DTV Sequel

Please do! I'm sorry: I thought it was really funny! If you were offended, just don't read this one...

I also think it should have a game...(you didn't mention one). Also what's a LD?

Jack...it was funny(for Aladdin) but it got my hopes up for something not true. If you do such a thing, at least write "fake" next to it.

The DVD should definitely include a featurette on the TV series, DTV sequel, stage shows at Disney World, Grotto attraction at the theme parks, and the many spin-off CD's they had made for both the movie and TV series. Also-info. on the Sebestian's Mardi Gras and Carribean Jamboree videos.

An LD is a laser disc.The laser disc was invented in 1975 by MCA(who owns Universal Pictures).They stopped making them in 2000,because DVD came.

G'Day!

Actualy the LD did have some extras:
-Under the Sea: The Making Of The Little Mermaid
-Original Theatrical Trailer
-Character Design
-Concept Art
-Concept Art By Kay Nielsen

A friend of mine told me that the making of is around 30 minutes and is pretty good. I hope we get tons of material on the DVD. I hope they include the song demos and deleted songs and sequences. Hmm, but maybe they will only put some games e pop video clips... after all, who cares about this behind-the-scenes stuff?!

I tell ya this is one I truly cannot wait for and am eagerly anticipating.
2099net had a solid list, especially the Tribute to Buddy Hackett.
To add to that list, something I'd love to see is a 10-15 minute piece on the music that Howard Ashman and Alan Menken produced and brought to the big screen.

There should also be a feature on how Disney went back into the archives for that concept art from the '30's or '40's (when Disney first considered adapting the fairy tale).

it is spelled... PLATINUM, not platinium

i would like to be the official spelling moderator for the forum :D

i agree with indiana, aside from the story being one of the best disney's ever done, the music was absolutely wonderful! TLM wouldn't be the same without it. i too would like to have good behind the scenes for the music for mermaid

Personally Indiana, I fell that this film should remeain vaulted for a little while longer, I don't think it has been unavailable long enough, and besides I have my copy of the Limited DVD, so what do I care if it is a while before this is rereleased... :P :roll:

Is he kidding? ...well is he...
