Besides Rapunzel, I'd like to see them do The Tinderbox and The Steadfast Tin Soldier.

Yeah, I would like that as well. I like Hans Christian Anderson and I wouldn't mind if Disney made a film of any Hans Christian Anderson stories

Well, Disney has adapted at least one of H.C. Andersen's tales in a feature film, and that was The Little Mermaid. And Disney did have The Steadfast Tin Soldier as one of the segments in Fantasia 2000, and I thought that bit was a very nice adaptation with cool animation and that wonderful music playing there.
I'd like to see a Disney version of the Finnish epic Kalevala. It might be difficult for Disney to make the story shorter to fit the time limit of a feature film, though, (I suppose in that case they'd concentrate on the Sampo bit of the saga), but the story has interesting characters from valiant heroes (Väinämöinen, Ilmarinen etc) to fantastic villains (Louhi) and some memorable scenes not to mention it would give Disney a chance to get really cinematic with magnificent landscapes and all that. If I remember correctly, Disney was even thinking of having "The Swan of Tuonela" in Fantasia, but for some reason that segment never appeared in the finished Fantasia.

I think it would be awesome to return to the "Disney that Never/Almost Was" material and try and rework Don Quixote. The problems they've been having since Walt started the project was that the material and story was too dark?? The tv movie with John Lithgow and Bob Hoskins seemed perfectly fine for families. Animation would be one of the best mediums for this story with all of Don Quixote's imaginitive interpretations of simple events he was faced with. Though, the story does have a somewhat sad ending.

Most likely, if they Disney-fy Don Quixote, they'll have the whole thing be a dream that Don Quijote is telling everyone in the square or something, which shows just how vivid his imagination was...
Anyways, I've always said that Disney should tackle
The Velveteen Rabbit for a DAC. SUre, it's
Pinocchio in toy form and Toy Story 2 shares the same idea (children outgrowing their toys), but just imagine how beautiful it'd be to see the transformation from scruffy and well-loved toy rabbit to real rabbit.
One of my favorite books growing up was Louis Sachar's
There's A Boy in the Girl's Bathroom. I always wondered why no one ever made that into a family film. This could be a good one for live-action.
Also, with the recent interest in biopics (The Aviator, Ray, Walk the Line, Capote, etc.), maybe Disney should handle a biopic of the man himself, Walt Disney. Though I can't imagine who'd be a good enough A-list actor to be Walt. So long as it's not Russell Crowe or Sean Penn, I'll be satisfied.

Pinocchio 1 1/2! Learn Figaro and Cleo's point of view for this tale as you find answers to some questions like why why Gepetto is sneazing when he's inside Monstro, and learn new things like how Figaro felt when he jumped in Gepetto's pants! Plus all-brand new fart jokes!
All joking aside, I've always been a fan of the Jak and Daxter games for Playstation 2 and wanted to see a movie based on this trilogy! And for some reason, I think it would be cool if Disney made these movies! I've always felt Daxter was a great character for the Disney line-up, not to mention the story could work very well on screen with many cool battle scenes and races!
Aside from that, I can't think of a story Disney desperately needs to do that they haven't done already. How about The Wind in The Willows? Yes I've seen The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, however I always wanted to see a longer version of this delightful tale, and since visitors at Disneyland STILL don't know who Mr. Toad is() I think a longer movie based on this book could be a good idea!

I always thought Disney should do something like that! I don't know any actor who would nail Walt Disney though! Too bad Brad Garret isn't 5 feet shorter. If he was, he would be PERFECT!!!

It's called Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in the US and Wind in the Willows in the UK. It's a catalogue title released a a few years ago (or last year), but if you're talking about another animated version, then yeah, that'd be cool.
speaking of Disney rides with unknown characters (to the general population), Disney should release Song of the South first since Splash Mountain is so popular!!
Didn't we have a thread casting people for a Walt Disney biopic?

Yeah, and someone had the bright idea of casting Louis and Beans from Even Stevens as Tommy Kirk and Kevin Corcoran.

Disney should do Kim Possible The Live action movie. Sarah Michelle Geller should play Kim Possible, and some bratish pretty boy actor I've never heard of from some American teen so-called-drama could play Ron. It doesn't really matter. All that matters are the following issues:
[1] Gary Cole must, I repeat MUST play Kim Possible's father, and have lots of funny lines.
[2] The plot should involve at some point the following: Octoberfest and exploding sausages I see this segment as being a pre-credits teaser just like in the James Bond films. Imagine it, exploding sausages at Octoberfest!
[3] Tim Curry would play Dr. Drakken, and do so wonderfully. Some other people could play the other villains. It doesn't really matter as long as I have Tim! (And Gary as Mr Possible).
[4] There would be an extended cheerleading scene, with Ms. Geller in a cheerleaders outfit and kicking really high. Really, really, high. Oh yes.
[5] I know Raven voices a character, but she must not - repeat NOT appear in this movie.
[6] The climax would be set in space.
So there.

You know, I remember doing about that in a school drama class once. I don't remember much about it, but I have seen the book in the library...I may just start reading it some time soon.
Anyway, I have said this a few times before, but an animated version of
The Wizard of Oz should be made by Disney. Make it closer to the original book than the 1939 classic to add a bit of originality, make it more a "film with music" instead of a fully blown Broadway style musical (i.e. have songs being proper performances or work songs instead of lavish show stoppers as well as backgroung songs to set the mood like in
Tarzan and
The Rescuers).
For live action, I'd like to see some more adaptations of novels, or Disney's stab at the
Mean Girls/Clueless/Legally Blonde chick flick arena, with a high school/college slap fest with a good moral at the end. I'd also like to see a cynical and tongue-in-cheek family horror film based on the "It's a Small World" ride at Disneyland.
I'd also like to see some more short subjects made, which could be released with feature films, including re-releases which
should be reintroduced. Maybe they'll be Classic Character shorts, 10-30 minute long live action films or animated featurettes based on original ideas/classic stories. Who knows. I'd love to see more Chip and Dale shorts, in addition to short retellings of
Peter Rabbit tales, which could actually be intergrated as segments for a live action biopic on Beatrix Potter's life.

I read that book in 4th grade! Personally, I don't think it would adapt well as a Disney movie. At all! I mean it's really a rather slow and rather sad story about a girl trying to survive on a deserted island! I think the only way Disney could make a good adaptation is if they added more comic-relief and make a happier ending to it! And we all know how well that works out for Disney, just look at The Hunchback of Notre' Dame.
I do like The Wizard of Oz idea though! I mean it didn't work for the muppets to well, but maybe Disney will make a cooler animated version, like what they did with Treasure Island!

Interesting idea. I share your love for the character and the games, but some other company would have to do it, not Disney. First of all, the content is too mature, and second, Disney would have to buy the rights, which Sony is not planning on doing. There is no way they are going to give up licensing on one of their most esteemed franchises. Usually, when Disney secures the rights from a modern book, they pay a good half a million dollars. When they adapt from a fairy tale, then it's free, becuase most originated before 1900, and all material before that time is not protected by copywright. If Disney wanted to acquire Jak and Daxter, I'm assuming they would pay somewhere in the million of dollars.

I liked Hunchback. Not true to the original, but it certainly wasn't all kiddie-fair. I'd like to see Disney do more drama like that. And she had pets that could easily be made into sidekicks.
There was the birds that she captured and kept in a cage and the 2 dogs. And if I recall correctly, a seal pup.
Not to mention they could do it in live action. Disney does some fantastic live action drama. Then they could stay more true to the original.

Prince Eric did bring up something. If Disney adapted from video games, I think both Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank would make great movies! Sly Cooper is screaming for his own movie, and I can see Ratchet and Clank leading along the lines of the Incredibles/Chicken Little.

Possibly for Disney and Square Enix (for those who've played
Kingdom Hearts, you should know) to make a anime series out of
KH *with* Disney animation style, as well as Japanese too. Who knows, it possibly be a huge success and think of $$$$ they can make out of it.

Deffinetly not Bambi III if they're not going to follow the book... that's for sure.
Another Incredibles would be awesome but I think they're going to make it anyways.
