If someone can please tell me how many seasons does the Simpsons have altogether? I keep hearing it's 16 and then I also heard 14. I am wondering which one is correct. Thanks.

Thanks for replying. I should of done this sooner but I checked on the official Simpsons site and it says 17. The seventh season is coming out on December 13th. So if they release 2 seasons every year for the next five years then all the seasons would be released.
Cheers

do you think that the rumor about the last season would be the 19th could be true?

I can't believe I was going to say this... but I sure hope so.
In PR they started showing episodes from the latest Seasons and they're just sad. They aren't even close to what they used to be. Not just I haven't laughed with them... but don't even smiled! Everytime I watch them, I'm like... what?

Yeah really the Simpsons really dried up with these new producers. If they made them old school style again than that would be awesome. But with unrealistic plots which aren't very funny to begin with are getting really old. In other words they just need to make the Simpons they way that they use to. But man 19 seasons can you imagine having the DVD's for all of those.

I think they are currently starting the 17th season. As much as I like the Simpsons, I think they should seriously think about ending it soon. The show in my opinion has gone down hill and the new seasons are nowhere near as good as the older seasons.

Krystal, you are so wrong The Simpsons is on it's 17th season and still is renew for four more so it should end in 2009 unless Fox renews it again.
They should start taking The Simpsons out 3 times a year.
Season 1 1989 (mid-season)
Season 2 90-91
Season 3 91-92
Season 4 92-93
Season 5 93-94
Season 6 94-95
Season 7 95-96
Season 8 96-97
Season 9 97-98
Season 10 98-99
Season 11 99-00
Season 12 00-01
Season 13 01-02
Season 14 02-03
Season 15 03-04
Season 16 04-05
Season 17 05-06
Season 18 06-07
Season 19 07-08
Season 20 08-09
The Simpsons was a spin-off of The Tracey Ullman Show (1987-1991).
The Simpsons were 3 minute shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show and then left in 1989.
I guess the show died off because The Simpsons weren't on The Tracey Ullman Show.

According to
IDMB there's going to be a movie in 2008 so I'm guessing they'll have at least 20 seasons!
The Simpsons are some what loosing it, but I just saw a new episode last Sunday which was REALLY funny. Lets hope The Simpsons get more seasons the Bonanza and Gunsmoke!

No, thats how many episode guides they've made for the show on tv guide. They probably haven't finished it all. And it IS in its seventeenth season. If you have any doubts, go to

I know Gunsmoke ran for 20 years, but how long was Bonanza?
And even if The Simpsons reach 20 years, it'll still be a long ways off from daytime dramas aka soap operas aka pieces-of-crap-to-those-who-judge-them-without-knowing-anything-about-them, the oldest currently at 53 years (Guiding Light).

I just looked it up, only 14, so the Simpsons has it beat already!
But you're right about Gunsmoke, but even if it does beat it, it'll still have to beat "The Ed Sullivan Show" "The Wonderful World of Disney" and "60 Minutes"!

Here in Mexico, even when its one of the favorites TV shows, is kind of losing addepts of because they`re not as funny as 5 or 6 years ago.
besides, they changed the great people who dubbed Homer,Marge,Bart, Lisa,Krusty, Mr. BUrns and Flanders because they wanted someone who do it for less without thinking on the quality of the job

Thanks for pointing that out.
Wow, that many seasons makes me think...will FOX release a HUGE Box Set designed like the Simpson's House for all the box sets?!

Part of me hopes it never ends but I know it has to. It's been on for so long and I've seen every single episode and been a fan from the beginning that it's so hard to imagine life with no new episodes of The Simpsons.
Sure the quality has gone down but to me I'd stillr ather watch it than most shows on TV. I look forward to The Simpsons more than any other show.
I'm really hoping 20 seasons just because I want it to hit the big 2-0.
I once compiled a pretty good list of ideas on what they could do in future episodes and I really think they would work so there is still material but maybe they need some new writers. (but I must say the last couple of seasons have improved over the couple before those)
After The Simpsons is done I really do hope they complete the movie and possibly do specials on TV from time to time but I want attention to fosuc on Futurama since there is still oh so much more they can do with that show.
Plus I want to see a Simpsons/ Futurama crossover. Most people moan when I tell them this and they say rather sarcastically and cocky, "Uh you know there is a Flintstones/Jetsons crossover?" Yeah like Matt Groening can't pull one off that would different? Just see the comics, they did it there!
Lastly, does anyone else get tired of the bickering or people going on about The Simpsons vs. Family Guy vs. Futurama vs. American Dad vs. King of the Hill? As a fan of all five I guess it's tiring to see.

Yeah I get the same feeling too. Like I don't want it to go away but I thing 20 seasons is enough. It would be the longest running show ever so why not?

I agree The Simpson is not as good as it used to be but its still not bad and thats why they should keep it on..
As For a Movie.. Inow there coming out with one... Im guessing summer of 08 or november or december of 08.
The movie would be hard though because each episode runs around 24 minutes so i dont know how they will do 90-120min.
