Xbox 360 pre-buy?

Does anybody know where I can reserve or pre-order an Xbox 360? I know that it is a little late now, but I was not sure if anyone knew of any place that was still doing pre-buys. I'm trying to stay away from ebay because the prices are rediculous.

GameSpot has an excellent
article on how to find an Xbox 360 if you didn't preorder it.
IMO, I think you're better off waiting until next year, though. Launch units are certainly going to have a few quirks, as opposed to later models. (An anecdote: One of my college buddies has a region 0 PS2 imported from Japan. It was one of the few PS2 launch units that didn't have region coding in it, and he has the letter Sony sent him asking for the "defective" system back.)

I'm waiting for two reasons.
1. Getting a PS3 instead
2. The 1st year of a new system sucks, this is really true becuase the sport games for the XBOX 360, but have the graphics but the total package will not come out for the PS3 and XBOX game till next year!

That and you may want to wait until the price goes down because the new PS3 is going to cost close to $400.00. But I'm not in a hurry my PS2 has been good to me and I hardly play video games any more because of school.

Price is a good reason to wait. I am satisfied with both my PS2 and XBox, and see no need to jump out and fork out $400 for a new system now. It is nice to keep up with the Joneses on certain items, but c'mon, it's only a game player, and we can all wait a little longer before investing in the latest 'techno-fad', can't we??

Yeah $400 can go a long way... like buying books for school instead of something to keep you entertained and distract you from your school work. Ok now I'm starting to sound like a square but there is no way in hell I'm going to pay $400 for a plastic magical box.

If you want to get one now your best chance is to go to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc... the day it comes out and wait in line. I think most places are currently not taking anymore preorders. I've also heard that Circuit City is getting them in early, so you would be able to get it a few days before anywhere else.
Personally I'm not going to get one, at least not yet. I'm waiting on the Revolution, and I might get a PS3 or XBox 360 when the price drops.

I know that Sams Club doesn't take pre-orders because one guy came in and asked me and I was like "let me talk to a manager." Then the manager said no and so I was like "no."

The price of these things always drops dramtically after the first few months or so, so I'd stick it out and see what the price is like after all the hype has died down.

I was thinking more in a triangle....
I´ll really gonna wait and not buy an 360 until Revolution and PS3 come out, mostly becase of the price(I mean, there will cost 400 dlls, but here is going to cost a little more...ok, maybe 200dlls more

)
Besides, on the last news about the Xbox360, Gates told that some of the games of it will not take advantage of the whole power of the 360, and considering the screen shots of some games it will be like normal Xbox games, at least for now

Do you really think the PS3 games will? They're still not taking full advantage of the PS2 hardware, and they're moving on to the next generation.
The PS2 games in the first two years were so good weren't they?

Probably not it's been a long time since PS2 came out. I got mine late so it only cost under $250 and the games were already good by then. I mean you can get upgrades to your PS2 like a Network adapter and a head set to talk to people while you're online. But I've heard that the PS3 is suppose to be like 3X faster than PS2 cuz of the new processor they're putting into it. But I'm not sure if I like the controls or not.

But 3X faster doesn't mean 3 times better.
For a start, it takes time to create the graphic assets - say you have 5x the texture definition, it means 5 times the upfront art work. Then it probably means some additional coding time has to be set aside to compress the 5x bigger textures (which are actually 25 times bigger - 5x5 = 25) so memory usage has to be conserved. That's just one example.
Then you actually have to code the thing, and multi-processor coding is very complicated, no matter what the dev-kits are like (and reports are that Microsoft has the better development kits). More processing means people expect real-world physics and more complex A.I. All this has to be created, A.I. being the most complicated (Physics and A.I. tools and interfaces are available, but all will need some form of tweaking, especially the A.I.)
Sony hasn't even finalised the specifications for their console yet (and I know this from a Friend who's brother works for a 2nd Party publisher. When that company showed their title off at the E3 show, they did what most (all?) other publishers did and simply showed video footage consisting of pre-rendered work and approximations of what the final footage would be like based on Sony's in-flux dev kits).
Nobody will be able to get anything like 50% of the potential out of the new consoles for years.
At least Microsoft tend to tell an approximation of the 'truth' in their marketing, rather than Sony who simply hype things up with no proof (rememer the claims of Toy Story quality graphics on PS2 games, or how the "emotion engine" would result in deep, emotional, hollistic adventure games?)
Of course, by the time they do start to get about 70% we'll all be moving on to the next, next-generation.

Which is why we've said over and over, it's better to wait to buy a brand new gaming system. That way it's cheaper, they have all the gizmos and what not and good games.

I'm going to be waiting for the Nintendo Revolution, myself. For one thing, it will actually change the way people play videogames, rather than just look better. Second, the system is announced to be less expensive than the PS3 and XBOX 360.

Despite what the vast majority of people said here I am not waiting. I actually pre-ordered my xbox 360 last night from Circuit City. I work hard for my money and I have not spent anything on myself lately, so I figure that I might as well do something for myself. Besides from everything that I have seen the games are going to be incredible, and actually most of the screen shots that I have seen look much better than of the current systems.

In some games, like Fifa 2006:Road to World cup
ma, that`s a hell of game, very realistic but I`ll still wait because its v ery epensive for me right now
