Arrested Development is Cancelled

Fox has made it official by announcing that Arrested Development has been cancelled. The network cut their original order of 18 episodes down to 13 and said that the production will wrap after that. The critically acclaimed and Emmy winning show was on the brink of cancellation last season. However, low ratings (mainly due to being shuffled in the schedule to accomodate baseball) sealed it's fate this year. In my opinion, this was one of the best shows on TV, and I for one will miss it terribly. Thank God for DVD.

Well, you knew it was coming--they moved the show to compete with Monday Night Football. Fox is truly the Satan of broadcast networks. I watch more Fox shows than anything else (Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Arrested Development), but they've given us Fox News and the bulk of the execrable "reality TV" out there. (Did you know they now have an entire cable/satellite network devoted to that garbage? Are you aware of how many writers & actors can't find work because Fox would rather you "Meet Your New Mommy"? Makes my head hurt.)

It's about time this got cancelled. Talk about the most overrated show on TV.

Next up- How I Met Your Mother.

I liked this show but I never watched an episode this season since it's on the same time as shows I like more and I tape too many programs so it didn't make the cut.
It sucks for all the fans though.

I still haven't seen any news on this. Have any links? I want to read their take on it.

I don't mind some reality shows. Some are truly garbage though. Some actors and writers may not be able to find work but maybe that is for the better... less crap. :p Ah well, I don't weep for them. there are tons of stations and tons of different types for everyone and if some writers can't make a show gold then well maybe they should work somewhere else.
...although then you have great shows like Arrested Development go unnoticed. Blame the network and also blame the viewers. There is only so many chances a network could give a show.

I just found this: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111793 ... =1&s=h&p=0

So it's not officially cancelled but things are not as good as the fans would hope.

It isn't quite as good as some of the edgier "mockumentary style" shows that it follows, yet I was surprised a show like it even got aired on the Fox network. It was working on a level far above the average sitcom (that simply took existing jokes and transplanted them to new shows "It's like Friends, but in Chicago!" etc). After all, the sitcom market is pretty much saturated. Arrested Development should be applauded for playing with the format, and offering jokes beyond the regular sitcom norm.

I saw the season opener in September, and was still quite impressed with the show (Australia is yet to see Season 2! The networks here have messed it about so much).

Shame to see it go. I guess it has to make room for a family oriented sitcom or a reality show where overweight apprentices are chased by promiscuous beavers on an island.

Fox originally order 22 new episodes of Arrested Development not 18.

Anyways I seen this show once or twice and it was overrated all the way.
I thougth it was worst then Malcolm in the Middle.

Thank You Fox for putting Arrested Development on Mondays to meet its Doom!!!
Next up War at Home....

Good! That show sucked so it doesn't suprise me at all that it was cancelled.

No, but it should be, this new season sucks, come to think of it the whole show sucks. So it wouldn't suprise me one bit if it got cancelled. They also need to get rid of all of these reallity shows too because they suck and they're really annoying.

Annoying to you maybe and some others but they sure do have a lot of fans. People like to complain about reality shows when really there are many kinds. Compare American Idol, Survivor and Family Plots.

Hey, I'd pay good money to see that. Let's hope it gets an early DVD release too.

Did Arrested Development suck? To some it did. To others it most definitely didn't. It was a love it or hate it show. But there should be room on TV, even on a major network, for a programme the thinks differently and offers an alternative.

You know, I can easily remember when we only had 3 Channels on TV over here. Then we had 4, and then most of the country had 5. Now, thanks to satellite and digital, we have about 200. And do you know what? There was always more to watch on TV when we only had the three channels.

Nowadays there is just so much variety. Some people complain that there is nothing on... well that could be but maybe they are too picky? There are so many channels and choices or TV shows on DVD... there HAS to be something worthwhile to view.

Some people say there are too many CSIs and Law & Orders but those work and people don't give other new shows a chance and well if you think there is too many on then watch something else or would that be too much to ask for? :p

Declinging quality of television programming? Buy some 'I Love Lucy' on DVD then. :P

I agree with Just Myself, Zoltack and Pals! This show was so overrated!

I never knew what was so great about it. But then again Fox is the king of crappy shows! Aside from The Simpsons and Family Guy, name one Fox show that was actually funny!

That 70's Show?

I find that one funny. As for 'Malcolm in the Middle'... I can't stand it anymore. I found 'Arrested Development' funny too and I wouldn't say it was grossly overrated but at times I wondered why it was so hailed. Sure it was original, funny and sure interesting to watch but it pails in comparison so such a great classic as 'All int he Family' for instance. I guess this day in age it's considered great mostly because sitcoms these days aren't that spectacular.

Please.....That 70's Show isn't funny at all not even it's other so called spin-off show That 80's Show (which got canceled after less then one season.
Malcolm in the Middle was great at the beginning but now when it moved to Friday for it's last season it got bad.

Topher Grace (please don't ruin Vemon) , Ashton Kutcher (worst model and actor not to mention a boy toy to Demi, Danny Masterson (even his brother acts better) are all horrible actors!!!!

thank god I didn't get suckered into buying season 2, phew, that was close, I would hate to be stuck with an abrupt ending for this show like TRU Calling.
