Star Wars Marathon!!! (this weekend:Nov. 4- 6)

I believe that most Star Wars fans outh there, as from the toay, they must be doing that already... but for the rest of us normal people...

I was thinking that we could each make Star Wars marathon over the weekend. The purpose? To actually see how all these 6 movies stand together as a single story. To share our thoughs on the whole story now, so we can tell each other how even the weaker ones (aka Phantom Menace) or the ones we like least feel now that they fit in the puzzle.

And just so we don't make this post boring, how about we start posting the preparatives (popcorn, candies, treats, with whom we'll be watching it, how: on bed, living room) , when do we start a movie and finish the next one.... everything you want except comments on each one since that's been done before and what wer're looking at here is them as a whole.

Of course, you don't have to watch them all in one day, or one right after the other. That's why I'm asking for this weekend: starting Friday evening/night. (or the whole day if you're free :) )

So who's in?

PS

I repeat the rules again:

- Use this post since today to sign up, before Friday so we can know who's in and expects comments from; if you decide at first not to and later join in... you can still participate, but it would be better if we know already (to make things interesting). But if you decide later, let us know on the post.

- Post whatever yo feel like regarding the movies and this marathon but not comments about each one in particular.

- Once done with the marathon, write evertything you want to express about the saga and what made you feel. And please, since this is the whole point of this post/marathon: write something interesting. I'm not asking for an essay but not a paragraph either.

Personally I already did this when it was in the theatres.

My mom hadn't seen the originals in years so we watched 1-2, then saw 3 in the theatres and then watched 4-5-6.

Kinda funny, after seeing ROTS I appreciated Phantom Menace a lot more because it seemed a lot more inoccent and care free.

It showed how some simple disputes/actions lead to this giant event that rocked the galaxy.

I almost wanted to say to Lucas "Okay, I GET IT now".

I am already in....................came home from Wally World (Wal-Mart) with my copy of Episode III just after midnight, and then I popped a big bowl of popcorn, and got out a two-liter bottle of Diet Pepsi Lime, sat down and at 12:50 a.m. began with "The Phantom Menace". After a short potty break and a refill of popcorn, I began "Attack of the Clones" at 3:25 a.m. After another short potty break, and making myself some Cinnamon-Apple Oatmeal, I sat down to watch "Revenge of the Sith" at 6:05 a.m. It was almost nine a.m. when I finished and I went to bed. Thank goodness I have my bedroom darkeed, and my wife had taken the grandkids to the park. I slept until about three in the afternoon.

Tonight, Wednesday, November 2, at 6 p.m. we will watch "A New Hope" and hope to get through "Empire" and "Jedi" before we retire tonight.

Will let you know if we make it.

Do we have to watch the closing credits too?

I can't make it this weekend. Kram and Jane come home from Rutgers, and Jane and I already planned out another movie marathon (Bringing Up Baby, Casablanca, Streetcar Named Desire, and Charade).

But, just for fun, if I were to have a Star Wars movie-marathon, here's what I'd do.

1. Empty the house. I hate watching movies with my family half the time because my mother always asks questions, then eventually both my parents fall asleep, and sometimes Kram and Jane get fidgety and do something else, or talk about something else.

2. Unplug the phone. Cut off all possible communication.

3. Raid the refrigerator and pantry for every possible snack. Keep them within an arm's distance. Have no reason to get up.

4. Do NOT leave the couch except to change the DVD. Bathroom breaks are only between changing the DVD.

5. As much as I love captions/subtitles, I don't want to turn them on during a movie-marathon. It draws my attention away from the picture and towards the words. For regular-watch-on-my-bed movies, I'll turn on the captions, but not for a serious movie-marathon.

I'm sort of having one this weekend. I want to watch all six together but my friend just wants to watch the prequels since she hasn't seen those so I'll watch those with her on Saturday and on Sunday or Monday I'll watch the original trilogy.

So I guess I'm in. :)

Not this week but next week I'll have a Star Wars Marathon.
I just heard that Spike Network has the right to air all 6 Star Wars movies from 2008 to 2014....

This weekend I have to study for a test and have to catch up on Prison Break, Bones, Lost, House, Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, Everwood, Charmed and 7th Heaven

Well, we did it!! Started "A New Hope" at 6:05 pm and we complete all three chapter and were in bed by 1:00 a.m.

Now that I have seen all six of them, I will tell you that it is an awesome way to watch these films. I really like "Phantom", "Attack" and "Sith" much more than I thought I ever would.

If you put it out of your head that you have seen any of the others before and just watch these in correct order, uninterrupted, and at your own pace, I think you will have new love of "Star Wars - The Complete Saga".

I will probably do this again before Christmas. It was fun.

I agree with you on that one. I think when you look at the story as a whole and don't just few them each as movie it makes the picture better.

I try to view it more as a mini-series now.

Nobody else interested?

Let's hope most decide to sign in on Friday and eventually some othere duing the weekend.

Actually I wasn't sure if I was going to make it myself because I thought on showing Episode 3 to my friend. And I didn't wan't to get tired of it. But since I won't be having my car, until late weekend... I guess I'll have it after all.

But in my case I plan to do it: Friday/ Saturday, as there most stuff I have to do on college this weekend.

I'll let you know how my preparations go. But so far, I'm going to be sure to get some popcorn and hershey's caramel bar (OMG, tried it and it is delicious....); or, might end up getting the different pocorns flavors they sell on the metalic box of SW3 at Blockbuster; right for the mood 8) . I heard they were good, but my questions are: are they actually that good? and how many are inside?; because they told me the tin carries 4 different flavors, but is it just 4 popcorns?

Please let me know by Friday morning.

Bumping this threas again, since it officially stars today.

Well, I'm about to start the marathon, as long as my family arrives here with the Star Wars tin popcorn. Hope it is good and enough.

Then, I'll clean up my room, bring my pet bunny and let him run free on my bedroom...and then just let nature take its course. 8)
