For those of you wanting to get some dirt-cheap Disney DVDs from R4, there seems to be another Disney cut-price sale (this happens every now and then).
Here are the titles:

Atlantic are selling them for $22.50 AU each (about US $15).

EzyDVD are doing this for $24.95 AU (about US $17) , but seem to have a deal on shipping for 4 or more titles.

One title that may be of particular interest is the R4 Goofy Movie, which although it lack supplements, is presented in 1.85:1.

Also AtlanticDVD are slashing the price of Snow Dogs to $18.95 AU (about US $13!!!) on October 31, so preorder now! This may be of interest to US viewers with multi-region players, as the R4 Snow Dogs is in 1.85:1 Widescreen! (it is missing the DTS track though).

Finally, both places have Country Bears which is also in Widescreen here. Atlantic have it for about $22.50 AU as well.

Of course, these are all R4 encoded, but I thought it might save some people a few dollars, especially with the weak Aussie dollar.

I think both sites have other Buena Vista sales running at the moment as well, so some other related items may be of interest.

Actually, most of them (possibly all) are coded for both regions 2 and 4. That means that people in Europe can buy without problems. (Mind the customs charges, though!)

I wouldn't be entirtely sure about that.
I know some of the ones I have from that list are R4 encoded only.
Anyways you can check the site if you like (and it does indicate R2 on some of them), but the box itself does not seem to indicate this.

At any rate, if that is the case even better. The Aussie dollar is very kind to Europe and the UK at the moment.

The best way to see if an Aussie disc is r2 encoded as well as R4 is to look at the subtitles, any featuring European subtitles (especially Nordic) are more than likely R2 encoded as well.

The box seldom gives a clue to the dual region compatibility. Disney wouldn't want you to know that you can get their discs much cheaper from another region, now would they? You'll need to check the disc itself, or trust the information provided by someone who has done just that (like the MichaelDVD site).

Or even better, get a multi-region compatible DVD-player.

Loomis (or anyone else who wants to chime in), I'm thinking of pre-ordering this Man of the House DVD from ezydvd. Even with the hefty international shipping charges, I think it will come to only about $13 or $14 US shipped...which seems fair. You've had positive experiences with them? They ship on time, etc.?

I've always used EzyDvd for my Australian orders (probably about 10-15 in total) and not had any problems what-so-ever. Come to the UK in about 5-7 days too. Not bad, considering it's halfway across the world!

I've used both quite often and never had a single problem with either of them.
I can't speak for international shipping - as 2099 says, Ezy seems to be very good - but both offer it. Ezy does seem to be a bit cheaper in terms of disc price for this particular one ($14.95 v $15.95 @ Atlantic), but usually it is the other way round.
Shipping seems to be $4.50 at both so I'd go with Ezy.

Whatever you choose, both are great. Ezy have been shipping a few days early lately with a lot of Disney stuff actually...

Now I just have to decide if there are any other Australian DVDs I should also pick up at this time to save on shipping.
