I feel a bit cheated getting the same episodes on more than one of the Disney Treasures. I still have purchased them all with the exception of the Davey Crockett and Mickey Mouse Club series...am I the only one who feels the Chronological Donald Vol. 2 is a waste if you already have On The Front Lines?

Not really. I think some people are going to complain no matter which way Disney went. People who did not buy On the Front Lines would complain because their Donald collection was not complete. It is a little bit annoying but with or without the inclusion of those shorts it is still going to take two more Donald volumes.

I guess you're right. I suppose, people who didn't feel the need to purchase On The Front Lines would be upset.

It's quite the conundrum for Disney and like Mr. Toad says, I don't think there was an easy solution. There are people who want all the war-themed shorts and bought <i>On the Front Lines</i>. There are people who want "The Chronological Donald" series to truly contain all of Donald Duck's shorts. Then there are people who buy all the Treasures who don't want to have to buy the same content twice. I suppose the route Disney is taking will only offend one of three demographics, but it's likely the largest of the three, as being a Disney fan is pretty much a prerequisite for collecting the Treasures.

Thank you Luke for that posting. I wanted to say exactly that same thing. I own both The Front Lines and Chronicle Donald and will scoop up Volume Two when it comes out.

It's "The Chronological Donald", not "The Complete Donald" they didn't have to include them, in my opinion.

That's interesting. I didn't know they were doubling up. I get all the WDT but the non cartoon ones are still wrapped. I know I won't sell them cause I'm a collector so I am kind of glad they are putting the same ones on the DD volume 2

A waste? Not at all.

Even if one might dislike the inclusion of some DD shorts already included on the Front Lines set, DD vol 2 is going to be essential because of all the other shorts.

As for this particular case of "double-dipping", we've seen worse (even though that might be unfair use of words regarding the wonderful WDT line). What they ended up doing to necessitate two Pluto volumes was pretty silly, in my opinion, but if we can live with that, we can live with this.

I think they did it because On the Front Lines will probably not be sold to the International market. Disney is giving there International costumers a chance to own all the Donald shorts.

...and if you're really concerned about double-dipping, take the case of "The Wise Little Hen." That cartoon has been triple-dipped, appearing not only on the Silly Symphonies Treasure, but also the Chronological Donald volume one Treasure and the Mickey Mouse Club Treasure (albeit in its black-and-white form). Add to that its upcoming appearance on Timeless Treasures volume three, and you've got a film that has been quadruple-dipped!

Donald Duck is my favorite of the Disney characters.

For the sake of thoroughness, Donald's complete library should be offered as if it were a stand-alone sub-series of Treasures (like Mickey's and Goofy's).

And, "On the Front Lines" needed to contain Donald's work in order to be a valuable historical volume (Actually, all of WDT is a valuable historical collection.)

That said (and I hope to buy all 4 volumes of the 2005 wave), I am not as eager to watch Donald Vol. 2, since so much of it has been repeated.

Side thought: if DD Vol 2 had been released before OTFL, would the war volume have sold as many copies?

I don't really mind the double dipping. When I get TCD 2, I'll watch it in order, and I don't want to have to switch to OTFL just to see a couple of shorts. Same thing with OTFL.

On a side note: Since the Donald sets don't include the shorts that star Mickey, Donald and Goofy, will there be a separate set for those? I though I heard something like that was going to happen, but it's clearly not going to be part of this wave...

I was aware of the Silly Symphonies and the first MM volume, but really none of the others.

(As for "international customers", those of us who care enough will get whatever we want from wherever we like anyway, but that wasn't your point, I guess.)

Aren't all of the shorts with Mickey, Donald and Goofy already included in the Mickey Mouse volumes?

I am happy disney went they way that they did. I suppose if they would have excluded the war time toons on Donald Vol. 2 it would have made room for a few more donald shorsts. In the long run, I am glad there will be a complete Donald collection.

I am more disapointed with Treasure collections of Mickey Mouse Club, Spin and Marty, and Swamp Fox. There is a lot of better material I would rather have. But... Disney is trying to prolong the Treasure line, which is okay.

Listen, I dearly want all of the Donald but I was on the fence about Front Lines. It just didn't have anything to interest me, other than Donald! I never did buy it, now I'm glad I didn't.

Certainly in the UK and Australia, we've had both MM Colour treasures, DD Vol 1, and the Silly Symphonies set. But no sign of anything more on the horizon.
