Altered Studio Logo

I love a good altered studio logo at the start of a film, my favourite being the Annete Benning face on the Columbia lady at the start of 'What Planet Are You From?' (because its so subtle).

Disney often plays around with the Buena Vista logo. Can you describe some of the examples?

I like the CGI Disney logo at the front of the Pixar movies...and the Disney logo on the 1995 trailer for Sleeping Beauty that briefly lets King Stephan's castle stand in place for the castle.

The Gadget ones are cute - the castle breaks down in a flurry of clockwork parts.

George of the Jungle 2 has George swinging into the castle and knocking it over (as if it was a cardboard cut-out propped up)

I like the Disney logo being beamed up into a spaceship at the start of Lilo and Stitch as well as the WB logo turning into a flock of owls in the teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone.

Non-Disney wise, the Moulin Rouge! 20th Century Fox fanfare is good too.

Disney wise another is the branding on wood of the Buena Vista logo at the start of The Country Bears.

There's also the one on Dinosaur, and I believe it was used again with some other Disney film, where its a dark brown background with the little spark going in an arch to reveal the Buena Vista logo beneath.

Yeah, that's the one they replaced the traditional blue logo on The Lion King with for the IMAX re-release.

I like Recess: School's Out, where the gang appear and play the last few notes of the logo on their kazoos. :)

I can name another Disney logo toying around:

The Lizzie McGuire Movie,to make you think it is a spy movie, when it's not.

G'Day!

Have you noticed how the logos on Disney cover art is always much more elaborate than in the film. I don't know why, but it annoys me that there's like four different logos for "Sleeping Beauty" etc.
The only exception is Beauty and the Beast, where the cover art on both the Platinum and Classics cover is far less elaborate than in the film.

Personally, I don't get why they can't just stick with the original movie logos for their merchandising and video covers. Some changes I can understand, such as The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which has such a simplistic title logo in the actual film that it'd look cheap and unprofessional on the DVD cover, but others such as Alice in Wonderland have better logos than what we see on the covers.

BTW, I think it would be pretty cool if on Brother Bear, they had the Buena Vista logo appear in a northern lights fashion, with blurry lights of various colors slowly flickering to reveal the logo. :)

That is a really good idea, I bet they do use something like this.

This isn't Disney but I love how the camera moves past the Columbia logo into the clouds at the beginning of Charlie's Angels. :)

This logo also appears in the end of "Pirates of Carebbean", after the end credits. The also used it on the "Lilo & Stitch" trailer!
