Difficulty Finding New Classic Cartoon Favorites DVDs

I went to go to buy both of the Classic Holiday Stories DVD at Wal-Mart today, and they aren't going to be carrying it in store until November.
Walgreens said that they were supposed to get it, but that it didn't come in. Target didn't seem to carry it, and Best Buy echoed the same response. "We ordered them, but we just didn't get the shipment in."
Even my local Disc Exchange, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video stores didn't carry it either.
I got frustrated, and ordered them today on Amazon.com.
Why is is that the last few Disney Titles have been extremely hard for me to find? They must not be doing a very good job of selling their product to retailers, or shipping them on time.

Today is the release date for those Holiday Classics and I had no trouble finding them at Best Buy. In fact, they were on sale for $9.99 each, so I picked both of them up.

I think shipping them on time is the trouble. I still haven't gotten review copies of the CCFs, and the Sing Alongs just came in on Friday!
P.S. Hope you used UD's link to Amazon and that you got in before they raised the price!

Maybe my area as a whole gets DVD shipments later than your area.
Either way, I'm glad that you were able to find them.
How is the picture and sound quality on The SMALL ONE?

Have you watched The Small One yet? I've been wondering if it's the edited version... originally the street merchants sang, "We simply cheat a little if we must." On a more recent release, I know they sang, "We try a little harder if we must." I realize that's not a big difference... it's just lame. I'll probably end up getting it even if it's the edited version. I just wondered if anyone knows which version it is. Anyone know?

I will have to watch it again and pay closer attention. I am not one of those 'nit-pickers' when it comes to changing a word here and there. But not being totally familiar with "Small One" I found it to be very enjoyable and the transfer was really remarkable. In fact, both of the DVDs were very very good as far as picture and sound. It was good to see "Pluto's Christmas Tree" with Chip and Dale again. And of course the inclusion of "Corn Chips" on the other disc was not a bad choice.
I noticed that all eight of the Wal-Mart Supercenters here in Wichita didn't have the CCL's on the shelves until late in the day on Tuesday. That is why when I plan on buying at Wal-Mart, I wait until the evening to do my DVD shopping. It seems right after midnight on Monday night (early Tuesday) doesn't give them enough time to get the shelves stocked properly. Also most of the night crews at Wal-Mart don't know much about what product they are stocking or why?

I got my DVD from amazon.com today. Small One's transfer was extremely poor. This DVD wasn't worth the pricetag, or the trouble I had to go through to get it.

i'm also having trouble finding it in our local store here like Walmart, Best Buy or Future Shop. Even Toys R Us don't carry these 2 dvds.

Even though it's available online as of last Tuesday, my guess is most stores won't have it displayed until they start setting up their Christmas displays. That day seems to be earlier and earlier each year. Within the next few weeks it should be easier to find.
I agree that the picture quality isn't what it could be. It's too bad they didn't restore it... it looks about like my VHS version. And it's the edited one with "We try a little harder if we must" instead of the original lyrics. Not a big deal - just something you should know if that bothers you.

You must have a bad copy of the DVD or your DVD player needs work, because I thought that the "Small One" transfer is beautiful. The colors are prestine, and the sound is incredible considering its age. Maybe you should check your player or your television, or maybe even your connections to see if you are getting interference.
If you are watching on a Portable DVD or even on your computer, that might have something to do with the quality of the picture, but I would hardly think so.
Taking in consideration how many years ago "The Small One" was done, I think that it is really nice to see this classic short on DVD in this quality.
