I have decided to try and see what everyones favourite disney songs are.
My alltime favourite song (the original and the Pop cover version) is
If I Never Knew You - Pocahontas 1995
It is probably the best Love song Disney ever did. even now , 10 years after its release im still singing and humming the tune. unforgettable and it never fails to make me cry.
Hellfire - The Hunchback of NotreDame 1996
Lavishly dark and gothic Hellfire is without a doubt one of the greatest triumphs of Disneys Soundtracks. disturbing and spectacular it was a daring move for alan menken.
but what is everybodys favourite soundtrack.
my favourite 'main theme' froma disney film has got to be again pocahontas. the film didnt live upto much but the music was wonderful. closely followed by the sombre theme from Lilo and Stitch.

Are you asking for a favorite song or soundtrack?

The subject says one thing yet you post an entirely different thing.
It's next to impossible for me to say what my favorite song is simply because there's so many. Now soundtracks are another story. My standout is the Bambi soundtrack because for its age it sounds surprisingly good, plus just about all the music is there, and since the story flowed on top of that music, its almost like watching the film in your head.

Pocahontas

How do you say that you're still humming "If I Never Knew You" 10 years after its release, since it was only added (beautifully) to the movie THIS YEAR? Was it on the original Pocahontas cd? Just want to know.
My favorite score of all time...sheesh that's a tough call. For originality I'd go with "Alice in wonderland," but for as for the BEST score, I think I pick "Beauty & The Beast" SE, with "Human Again" included.

Yeah - "If I Never Knew You" was on the original release of the CD, but not the film version. I'd never heard Mel Gibson singing it until the recent DVD release.
As for a favorite soundtrack, mine is Mary Poppins, though I have a very hard time deciding between that and about twenty others.

It's hard to chose the best soundtrack. I prefer to make the distinction between score and song. For song, "Colors of the Wind" and "Beauty and the Beast" reign supreme. "A Whole New World" would probably be my personal faovrite, but in terms of craft, the other two are technically superior.
For orignals score and music, it's hard to beat
Pocahontas.
The Lion King and
The Little Mermaid also have very unique and incomparable scores.
For adapted soundtrack, I assume many are going with that movie with the sleeping chick.

My vote goes to
Lilo & Sitch, which makes good use of Elvis tracks along with original Hawaiian music. If there was any justice in this world, Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu would have been recognized by the Academy for his two origingal songs, particularly He Melo Lilo, the opening number.

Hard to decide
These are my favorites:
Pinocchio
Dumbo
The Three Caballeros(no, it's not an error!

)
Jungle Book
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Lion King
Toy Story
However there are alot of soundtracks that have EXCELLENT scores! For example: Fantasia and Dinosaur had great scores, but didn't really have songs.

Definitely Dumbo. Great songs and fantastic incidentals make a very listenable package even without the visuals.

Amazing how many people left the theater right before the ending credits, was Pocahontas really that bad? If I never Knew You was also my fav song from the film back in 1995 and still is today. Not because it was added just this year.
