What are some things you NEVER knew about your favorite Disney movie? I was surprised to find out that in Pirates of the Caribbean, that Johnny Depp actually had gold teeth implanted by his dentist for the movie, but Eisner thought he had too many, so he asked Depp to take them out.

On top of my head, that's all I can think of. What are some others?

Well I guess one would be that the once the first Aladdin movie story boards were finished the studio decided that it was not how they wanted it and the entire script and story boards were scrapped and the cast and crew only have a year finish the movie before the release date.

Depp liked his gold teeth so much that he kept them on after he finished shooting the movie. I love dorks.

Had to watch the special features to get this, but there were rubber puppets used to indicate where Roger and his crew would be animated after the live-action portion of the film was shot. Sometimes there was nothing to act to at all. (It was funny to see the people moving the rubber puppets around. )

And on the Depp gold teeth thing, I think he didn't remove them either...just covered them up really well.

His mom was Mrs. Potts....dunno about the father tho....or any of his many many brothers & sisters.

Things I never knew, but now I do, about Disney Movies:

1. That the naked lady in The Rescuers was UNINTENTIONAL, therefore "edited" copies are the way the movie was supposed to be seen.

2. That Walt chose to edit out the stereotypes in Fantasia's Pastoral Symphony, thus making the version we see now the version Walt had intended us to see.

3. That Tink makes an appearance in The Black Cauldron.

4. That carpet bags do not exist, unfortunately.

5. Neither do flying beds.

Disney??? What's Disney?

One thing I didn't know about Disney movies when I little is when they came out. For example, I thought Snow White came out a year before Aladdin. It wasn't until last year when I watched Pinocchio I was intrested when it came out. So I looked it up on IMDb and I found it came out it came out in 1940! I was very suprised. I didn't know some Disney movies were that old. Soon I found out that Snow White was even older (1937) and Aladdin came out a year after I was born (1992). I guess kids don't really care when Disney movies came out

Animation cells used to be very expensive, so after shooting them, they used to clean them off for re-use. Hundreds of thousands of (what now would be) priceless animation cells were erased after they were shot into film... wiped completely clean. Many of their drawings and pre-production materials would be thrown out when a project was completed. And that's too bad. Don't know if you've all heard that before.

I just some animation history books and found out:

1) Merbabies, my least favorite short, was actually animated by the Harman/Ising studio not by Disney. Considering the Harmon & Ising were traitors when they joined Charles Mintz studio (look up the Oswald The Luck Rabbit threads for the history here), it is surprising Walt gave them the opportunity.

2) Chuck Jones worked at the Disney Studios in the 1950's when Warners was closed the studio for the first time. He accomplished nothing except collecting paychecks.

3) Disney endeavors into television was only done to raise capital to build the first theme park.

4) The Golden Touch was last cartoon directed by Walt and was considered an embarrassment. You did not bring the cartoon to Walt unless you wanted walking papers.

5) Most Disney animators considered Bugs Bunny to ripped off from their cartoon "The Tortoise And The Hare"

6) Friz Freleng was a Disney employee who left the studio because he did not like Walt's verbal abuse. (And remember Friz had temper as animators claimed Yosemite Sam was based on Friz.)

7) Nothing to do with Disney but this was big one for me. (I highly recommend this movie as well) In "A Letter To Three Wives", SPOILERS: the movie explicitly tells what happens and the ending was not open-ended. Addie Ross was about to run off Porter Hollingsway but Porter decides to stay with his wife. Addie does not run off Brad as I at first thought what happened.

*DJ's boyfried, Steve, from "Full House" was the voice for Aladin.

*Walt Disney died in the middle of production for "The Jungle Book".

*Mary Poppins was the second "Premiere" for Disney. (Snow White was first.)

*Belle makes a cameo in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

*"Song of the South" was Disney's favorite production.

One of the most surprising things I found out about my favorite movie was that Ursula's design was influenced by drag queens. I was shocked at the time, but it's kind of not surprising considering all of the makeup.

That Jafar was actually inspired by Maleficent.

Yeah. She was mainly based off of Divine, A famous drag queen who starred in the 1972 movie Pink Flamingos directed by John Walters. Divine died of a heart attack in 1989 which oddly enough, was the same year that TLM came out.

Another intesting fact I didn't know about Aladdin is that in the original folktale, Aladdin was chinese.

You all probably also know that James Baskett (Uncle Remus) provided the voices for Brer Frog and Brer Fox. I know so much useless trivia that I'm not sure anymore which parts people would already know.
