I was reading a recent book I purchased on Aida when I read that Huchback of Notre Dame was being produced in Berlin. Who knows how long ago this was, but I was curious about it (as the novel is my favorite book).

I can't find anything on it. The only abroad show they seem to have is Mary Poppins. Do any of you know anything about this show, if it even was produced?

There isn't too much information out there about the musical, although I know it did play in Berlin for a time. My guess is that it wasn't too successful and probably won't be playing anywhere else soon.

This isn't exacty on stage but the theme at my local renfest (kcrenfest.com) this year is Festival Of Fooles. At the gates before the festival opens, and all during the day, Quasimodo is present (well, sort of....if you know the story) It's basically the same plot as the story. Quasimodo observes the party and is chosen as the King of the fools. Esmerlda is going to be there, too, along with Frollo.

This is the first time I've heard the score in its entirety, and it is AMAZING. Even if you're not a fan of the movie, you should check this out. The act one finale, "Esmeralda", gave me chills. If only this could be brought to Broadway, rather than attempting to make "The Little Mermaid" work.

Also, the gargoyles have been altered greatly, and for the better, I say. Their names have been changed to Charles, Antoine, and Loni, and they act as more different aspects of Quasimodo's personality (sensible, impulsive, individual) and are NOT comic figures here.

I love the Glöckner-musical ^^ In my opinion, it's the best Disney-musical to date.

It still has it, they just must not have mentioned it.

Did anyone get a chance to see this while it was playing in Berlin? Sadly I was 12 when it closed and obviously couldn't afford the trip. Even better can anyone hook me up with a soundtrack?

Is the .rar just like a file that I can extract I wanna put these on my iPod.

It is the biggest tragedy that this was never given a shot on Broadway. Even if it bombed at least other theatre groups could perform it. And I agree with the previos statement. It is by far Disney's best musical. One of my favorites period.

I'm glad to be able to finally know what the english lyrics are but I can see why it's never come to the US considering how adult they are. I mean in the one it sounds like Phoebus is propositioning a lady of the night. Oh, my!

I love Huchback! I wish there was an English-language cast recording of the show.

Were there ever even demos recorded in English?

I have the demos from the Hunchback LD. I would assume English demos of the stage songs would have been recorded since Stephen and Alan speak English....

To my knowledge, there is no recording of the songs in English. Well, let me rephrase that. In all likelihood, Alan or Stephen may have made a recording of the songs while writing the show, much like the one leaked for "The Little Mermaid", but it's never been released to the public.

I went into the "Favorite Disney Villain Songs" thread and so many people said "Hellfire". I had heard people cite that as one of their favorites sooo many times before, so I finally found an mp3 of it. I had seen the animated Disney version before, of course, twice even, but for some reason forgotten this AWESOMEOMGAMAZINGWTFHASTHISBEENALLMYLIFE song.

But my friend who's a super genius who reads a lot told me Disney's Hunchback totally deviated too much from the original Hunchback.

But I love the sexy music.

So I'm really in the mood for good, dark, mature, closer-to-the original text Hunchback. With sexy music.

In a response to many about English recordings of the songs:
"Before Berlin, the show was originally based in New York City, where it was workshopped and rehearsed completely in English. This allowed the show's creators to work with their cast and toss around ideas as to what was possible."

So, wouldn't there have been some?!
