Darkwing Duck Thread

I couldn't find a thread detailing Darkwing Duck, so I figure I'd make a new one.

Welcome to the Darkwing Duck thread.
Who remembers fondly growing up with this show? I do. I was in 4th grade when it first premiered, and I remember constantly drawing him and wanting to portray him. I had really no idea Disney existed back then (believe it or not, even with B&TB/Aladdin and the DA shows) but I think this show truly introduced me to the magic of Disney.
Who was your guy's favorite characters? Mine was obviously Darkwing, probably my first hero ever. I kinda liked Steelbeak as well. And for some reason, Launchpad seemed cooler here than in Ducktales, IMO.
Discuss.

I was in 3rd grade when Darkwing Duck joined The Disney Afternoon line-up. One of the best Disney animated shows. I heard it was a spin-off of DuckTales...but I don't think it's true.
Favorite hero is Darkwing and favorite villian is NegaDuck (for some release he wasn't in the NES version of Darkwing Duck).

Was'nt Lodgepad from DuckTales was the sidekick in Darkwing Duck?

His name was Launchpad McQuack and he was Darkwing Duck's sidekick.

Of course it was a spin-off of DuckTales. Apart from Launchpad, who was in the regular cast of DT, there were also some cameo appearances of other characters from the former series, like GizmoDuck, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell or the Beagle Boys. The city of Duckburg was also mentioned in one of the episodes.
I quite enjoy "Darkwing Duck", but "DuckTales" show was IMHO far more better, both in animation and in plots. And Launchpad was too dumb in DWD

I don't remember much about Darkwing except that I had watched it on the Disney Afternoon. Surprisingly, I never watched DuckTales. I just never cared for it for some reason.
Darkwing's theme song is one of my favorites even though there's really not much to it.

I've never really watched Darkwing Duck, but I know it is a good show.

Yeah, I loved the DW theme. Sounds so early 90's lol, but it's still great nonetheless. Probably one of the more catchier TV theme songs I've heard.

I was a dorky high-schooler when the show came out and I became obsessed (all the other kids thought I was nuts). I now own all the episodes (except for the infamous banned one).
Darkwing is one of my favorite characters of all time. Not all the episodes were the greatest, but the concept and characters were awesome!
What we really needed was a good Darkwing/DuckTales crossover, that would have been so cool.
God, I miss this show.

While I never loved this show as much as DuckTales, Darkwing was an awesome show with likeable heros and crazy villians and sidekicks!

The animation was pretty good and the theme song was catchy! I can't wait until this comes to DVD!

This is my favorite Disney Afternoon show!
It's not very known, but, when originally played on the Disney Channel, the theme song was a different version of the catchy tune.
This is a wave of it. This is the first wav I ever recorded back in the mid ninties. It's horrible quality, but, you can tell the difference..

Sadly I taped over the video long ago. THAT, and, well, I missed the beginning of it. As you can hear, the song changes, like, 9 seconds into it from the standard to the original theme.
I've been looking for someone who might have taped/VHSed this theme back in the day. I wanted to use my sources that I have to recreate the alternate opening on the computer. I also wanted to remake the ABC version of the opening, too. I've made a little more headway with that... having found a VHS source with 90% of that opening.

You're not the only one, I miss this show too. Let's hope it receives the Ducktales/Rescue Rangers treatment and it gets it's own DVD release (along with Talespin).

I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade when this show premired. Gosalyn and her geeky friend Honker were my favorite characters. I like Launchpad as Darkwing's sidekick. I liked the episodes with other Ducktales characters in them the best.

Same here. LP was indeed cooler here than in Ducktales.
Yeah, the ones with Gizmoduck were pretty cool, loved the rivalry.

It was a good show but a step down from Ducktales IMO.
The plots and animation were just a notch below but it was an awesome show and a clever spinoff.
They needed a new show featuring ducks and so they simply asked "Where does that bridge in ducktales lead to" and they went from there.
That's good storytelling.

Yes another show similar to DuckTales and Darkwing Duck!
Actually I would love a show with the gang from DuckTales, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Pete, Minnie, Daisy and Donald as well as some other characters like Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale, Clarabelle, Horace... all of them but not carried as far as 'House of Mouse'.
..or just another Duckburg series with appearances of all those characters.

I actually listened to it and its almost like someone made a bad splice of a different recording.

Very strange indeed. The sound effects are all the same though.

Yeah, I agree. Even though we have HoM (it's all it needs to be), it'd be nice to have a show that revived all the Disney Afternoon characters and meshed them in somehow with other Disney characters, too. HoM 2. lol
What I like about Darkwing Duck was the fact he was full of personality. Partly due to Jim Cummings doing his voice, the other being that his ego was so full and driven.

Darkwing was great. I was (one of the few) fans of Gizmo Duck so to hear of another duck super hero was happy news. I always wished they would do an episode where Drake and Fenton learned of each others secret identities and perhaps posed as each others alter eago for a while. I mean Drake as Gizmo Duck and Fenton as Darkwing, how fun would that be? I think it's about time to come back to those old shows that didn't have humans as the main characters. I mean I love American Dragon and Kim Possible, but let's go back to "toontown" It will be interesting to see what happens with Iger in charge.

I like Darkwing Duck a lot. But it didn't see it too much, due to the different times it came on. However, I loved to show because of the darkness in its appeal.
