and son’s growing bonds with one another. Bambi reunites with his father, The Great Prince

<b>BAMBI II</b> takes place during an untold but critical chapter in the life of young Bambi.

Bambi knows his mother is gone. His stoic father, the Great Prince Of The Forest, has little
choice but to raise Bambi on his own. He has no experience caring for a fawn, but as wise
Friend Owl suggests, who better to raise the young prince than the Great Prince himself?

Bambi is sent off to play with his friends Thumper and Flower, who are going to the yearly ritual
of the Groundhog emerging from its hole. Thumper is trying to avoid his adorable but nosy little
sisters, and Flower is hoping for more winter so he can get back to hibernating. Bambi also
reconnects with the sweet doe Faline, who makes Bambi blush and stumble. But Ronno, a bully
with budding antlers, targets the young prince as his enemy.

Bambi learns valuable life lessons and the ways of the forest as a new season begins. But
there are many adventures and obstacles that both Bambi and the Great Prince must overcome
together as they realize they have much to teach each other. Together, they can look forward to
a bright future.

Great, now they're turning Bambi into a Groundhog Day promotion, and now Bambi has a villian.

With the preview of Bambi II I think it will be one of the best Disney direct to DVD sequel yet.
But it will won't be better then the original film.

i think the story sounds nice and i think the animation will be good as well. i agree in saying that this has the potential of being one of the better DTV releases.

does anyone by any chance think that this "Ronno" might be the deer that challenges Bambi for Faline in the original Bambi? it was just a thought...

Yeah i think thats him, i recognised the name when i read the press release, i always thought it was 'rollo' , i'm curious to see what he looks like as a fawn.

Man, there's never a dull day on UD, is there? I thought things would quiet down after we got the Toy Story DVD review, and then we get these press releases!

Wow, an actual making-of in a DTV? Disney's outdoing themselves (well, not really). I'm glad that out of all the DTVs, this one gets special attention. Now that I've flattered Disney for including a making-of, who wants to bet that it won't last any longer than 6 minutes and will basically only talk about Patrick Stewart?

This is the first DTV ever that I'm actually looking forward to. The previews make it look great. We've got great animation, superb voice casting (Patrick Stewart's voice demands respect), some character development, and there's an actual antagonist (Ronno and the hunting dogs from the trailer). I can't wait; I'm already 90% sure that I'm getting this, but as usual, the internet reviews (and UD's) will make me decide.

Hopefully it will. This is probably gonna' be like Tarzan II (WHICH SUCKS!) I liked Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest. This must have been like a last minute decision by the "brains" working at Disney..

Being a huge fan of the original Bambi, and of Thumper especially, I say it looks like Disney has a decent idea with seeing how Bambi's father raises him differently from his mother.

What I've the issue with is the voices--naturally they can't reproduce Peter Behn, but I saw a tiny preview in the Platinum Edition of Bambi, and they don't even sound close! Couldn't they try harder? I mean, yeah Alexander Gould--popular kid star, but I see him as Nemo if I hear that voice--he just will not fit Bambi.

It's the fact that it's a classic that they're making it. It's so easy to cash in on everyone's knowledge of an old "classic" such as Bambi, which everyone's seen or at least heard of. Complete the "collection."

Well, this is the second press release I have ever read on UD(I presume you all know which was the very first )

Well, the story seems nteresting and it have some details from the book(like the fight with Ronno, who in the book actualy had antlers)but they should add Karus too.

But what I don´t get is why to add that stuff about the "groundhog day" well, maybe they needed a reason to add Thumper and Flower to the story.

By the way, when they told about the lousy thumper´s sisters I finally get the Thumper scene on the preview of the DVD.

Well, we´ll have to wait to Feb 7(just 152 days)

Currently my feelings on this sequel is that I'm sort of looking forward to it. I'd rather they have never made this at all since I feel even the best DTV movies sort of take something away from the originals but since they made this I've got to live with it and all I could do is ignore it or keep an open mind.

The best thing going for it is the setting and great characters.

I'm not too fond over the music that will be in it though.

This pisses me off Ronno is not a bully! He's only a hard ass during the pre-rut and rut season (that's hunting lingo for mating season) come on.
And what the hell, are they celebrating ground hogs day or something. And Flower is a lazy ass who wants to hybernate more? Come on, just come on.

Dispite all of that I'm still excited and rather curious!!! You all can tell to can't ya???


Speaking about hunting I'm going Sage Grouse hunting in Wyoming on the 22nd. It's gonna be sweet cuz my uncle is coming along, but I don't trust him with a gun. It's a long story why. I'm so excited, I'm gonna buy a new shoot gun and a tac-vest.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a mistake to step inside Bambi's current story and continue from there? I mean, sure if it was a proper sequel that turned out crap, we could just pretend it never happened. But this, no... This is treading on thin ice. This is classic, and the sequel could very much ruin what Walt and his animators were trying to create. Disney has gone too far with this one I say. Anyone else with me on this?

I'm sorry, but I'm totally not with you on this... Why is everyone thinking that the DisneyToon Studios guys don't know about the original Bambi movie? I mean, just look at the preview on the Bambi DVD and you'll hear from Andreas Deja that they really wanted Walt to be proud of this midquel...

Jens, as much as I believe they're trying their best, story issues are mostly not their problem. The Studio has improved, animation indeed looks stunning. But the story remains the center focus. And in all honesty, would Deja say they're not trying to live up to Walt's expectations on a Bambi DVD?

I think the guys at DisneyToon Studios know the original and know what they are doing for the most part but that doesn't mean I still think they should have done this movie in the first place.

I wish they would have focused their energy creating something new, great and original or working on a movie I would love to see a true sequel to (Hercules).

Ah well I'm still going to be as open minded as I can. I don't like the idea of making movies to what I atleast consider great classics but I can't do anything about it so I'll either enjoy it or just try and forget.

Yeah they knew about the movie but unlike the producers of the original Bambi they don't know about the book. I mean they know it exist but what I'm trying to say is that they sort of followed the book in the original movie so they should sort of follow the book in the new movie as well. Eventhough, the novel doesn't really elaberate on how Bambi grew up without his mother very well either.

I agree with you, but I have long long long forgotten that actually. It's just a fact that the Walt Disney Company has transformed into a money eating machine... But aside of that, I still think that the company and the studios are not directly linked (the studios don't think the same way the suits do). However, the studios still get their assignments from the suits and they can only make the best of it... I think that is the case on this movie, and I support the creative minds at all the Disney Studios.

How do you know they didn't know about the book?
