OK, you guys know much more about this stuff than I do, so I'll ask you. Do I need to buy the upcoming SE's since I already have the Ultimate Toy Box?? Are there new features?? Thanks in advance.

Well on the newer one that picture has been improved to a much, much, much higher bit rate so it will look like newer films such as The Incredibles, Shrek, etc. There will be a few new features (7 tops) and the rest are carried over from the Toy Box. For collecting reasons I would purchase it, but that's just me. If you have an extra $16.00 then I would get it from Wal-Mart or Amazon. Hope this helps you. So in short I say yes to getting it.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the Ultimate Toy Box will be heading to eBay.

I never purchased the ultimate toy box, so I'm getting this at best buy.

I'm currently at work on the quite imposing review. But on the Toy Story: 10th Anniversary Edition:

- there are a few new features (some retrospectives, a game, a new design featurette, subtitling)
- there are some older features that are missing (most noticeably the short "Tin Toy"
- even with the higher digital bitrate, picture quality is going to look minimally better on most people's systems; the DTS is pretty pleasing, but then so was the A/V on the UTB, which many previously labeled a standard of excellence

If you like "Tin Toy", it might be worth holding onto the UTB.

I don't think you should sell it, IMO. I mean, you hear about people still wanting this set even though TS is being released; by keeping it, you have a "rare" set! But that's just my opinion. :)

Yah, can't wait for the review of TS!

So essentially the two SE's is the Ultimate Toy Box, minus "Tin Toy" but plus a few new features (like the "Legacy of Toy Story" and that 10-year retrospective on Toy Story SE).

Was there commentary on UTB? Cause I was listening to the commentary, and it definitely sounded recent (Joe Ranft was in it too, God Bless him). I was a bit annoyed though that you could tell that Bonnie Arnold and another commentator had their commentary separate, but they tried to edit it to sound like they were all in the same room. Also, I didn't really like how after even a two-or-three second pause, they'd suddenly have this woman say the guy's name, and he'd talk.

Luke, Okay I have a high definition TV and top of the line DVD player. Will it make a difference to me? There is a massive difference for Nemo on HD and non HD. With the original issue of Toy Story the differences were not great. If I buy it again, I will have to keep both(one just for a short). The extras will be nice because I did not have the Toy Box, I bought the three pack with A Bugs Story.

I don't know which is better because I don't own UTB or the two Toy Story: SE but I do plan on buying UTB soon.

Any chance they will stick "Tin Toy" on the Toy Story 2 SE? I know it seems like it would make sense to be on the first, but maybe they didn't have room, or needed more for TS2?

Doesn't the first DVD release of Toy Story have Tin Toy?

From what I read, Toy Story 1 and 2 SE look better than TB.

I mean you know what they say, "4 discs are better than 3". Well not really but you get what I mean. :P

It would be nice if Pixar added in a last minute tribute to Joe Ranft on Toy Story SE. That was so sad!

But back on topic: Since I have been OBSESSED with these films ever since I was 5, I'm definatly going to buy both of them

Wow! All this time I though there was only one United Kingdom! But It turns out I was wrong! There are actually 2!

One UK where the DVDs are released on September 28th! (Where *Andy* lives)

And another one where the DVDs are released on November 25th! (where the rest of the UKs population lives!)

I'll be getting both since I don't have the UTB. I'm disappointed with the missing extras but I'll have to make due with what I have. Maybe after the new editions are released some unknowing people will dump their UTBs on eBay and I can pick up a used one on there.

I can't believe Toy Story is coming out on DVD so soon. I can't afford it yet! My roommate says she's getting it so I guess I'm going to be teased b her copy. Sure we can share but we both like to collect Disneys! Then the Heffalump Halloween movie the week after and then the Classic Cartoon faves at the end of Sept! (Not to mention Lost next week too and I still need to get Lilo & Stitch 2) Yikes... at a time when I have little money. :(

Ok, I tried, I really tried not to buy the 10th Anniversary edition when I saw it on the shelf this morning.........................I failed. Even though I have the UTB, I was compelled to buy it, if for no other reason than just to hear that DTS track.
